Everyone needs to thank donmac from rivals for gertting these guys interested. However, I don't see is getting any of the Jersey boys

Caroo did name an early Top 5:

“My current top five is Rutgers, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia and UCF,” he said. “That’s not in any order. Every college is pretty much even. I have great communication with all of those coaches and I (communicate) with them daily.”

However, CU hasn't offered yet and it's coming soon.

From the same article as the quoted section above, Caroo has clocked a 10.8 in the 100m and also runs the 200 and 400. http://footballrecruiting.247sports.com/Article/Recruiting-Update-Leonte-Carroo-names-a-top-five--17394

Carroo is also #71 on Lemming's Top 100 prospects list: http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/60050-Tom-Lemming-s-Top-100-for-2012

JMO, but we do not need to offer every single blue chip from Don Bosco every year. Pick and choose the battles. With WR, we are after plenty of studs already that are more realistic targets.

practicing the "throw enough darts" strategy. Bound to land at least one stud with the way they are going.

The "throw enough darts" strategy is a losing strategy. This staff is better than that, or at least I hope so.

You agree with targeting certain national power high school programs to develop pipelines, right?

I'm not for scouring the New Jersey prep ranks to find talent, but I am for working the Greg Brown relationship and Tony Jones connections at Don Bosco for all they're worth.

I do. But that does not mean that every blue chip from Don Bosco automatically needs to be offered, which is the general feeling of Donmac. Sometimes, the coaches have other players (and more realistic options) in mind. I hope we land at least one player from Don Bosco this year, but I am pretty doubtful it happens.

I agree that donmac can be over-enthusiastic about the guys from Don Bosco and north Jersey. I don't think we have to worry about this staff throwing offers out to no purpose. And WR is one position that we generally don't need to look outside CA and TX to find great talent. Unless we have a legit shot at Carroo (good chance of getting him here for an OV), I hope we don't offer and spend all the time & energy it would take to court a guy of this caliber. But bottom line is that I like this Bosco connection and trust our coaches on the recruiting trail.

Yep. I actually think it is worth some effort to go after Shumate and Wright, we have major needs in the secondary and either one would be big pickups there. Same with Darius Hamilton on the DL, even if it is a longshot. Carroo seems much more of a luxury.

It will be interesting to see what the Jersey players have to say after next weekend.

This is really about resources, right? You have to spend your time and money wisely. Recruits like constant attention, so concentrating on relationships at relatively few schools would seem to be a good strategy. So if a very good program has a lot of good recruits year in and out, why not go about visiting bunches of their stars? Unless, of course, we aren't getting a reasonable return on investment.

It doesn't look like CU has made a move on Carroo.

However, the interest level from the NJ visitors on Junior Day was enthusiastic enough for Embree to make a commitment to NJ recruiting. Kanavis McGhee will now be in charge of our efforts there (played for the NY Giants and has some connects). Maybe that will result in more CU offers in the Garden State.

But how are we supposed to get players from NJ without Kent Riddle and his infinite connections? Maybe we could get the Riddler to clinic McGhee on NJ recruiting.

pretty glaring difference between scout and 24/7's ranking.

Going to be interesting to see where Rivals and ESPN put him so we can get a feel on a consensus. Since Rivals has already put out its initial 5* guys, it looks like Carroo will be a 4* over there.

May be in line for an OV after hearing how awesome Boulder is along with Hamilton.
