Where are the Louisiana offers?

How should CU recruit Louisiana?

Considering the connects that EB and Kanavis have to Louisiana, I expected that we'd be seeing some targeted recruiting on the Bayou. We haven't. I believe that Embo even mentioned it as an area that we'd target a little bit.

Do you think we'll see some offers to Louisiana prospects as this recruiting year moves along?

Should CU be recruiting there or is it too little bang for the buck with limited recruiting resources (time, manpower, etc.)?

After Ward transferred, I became convinced that Louisiana players become homesick when at CO. That doesn't mean that we should try after Louisiana players, but I personally wouldn't try to hard after them. It seems so hard to pull kids out of there in the first place, and then they seem to get homesick...sure...I think Tad Wash was from LA (correct me if I'm wrong), but I think our successes from that state are rare.

I do wonder though how many more seasons we're going to see recruiting in the VA area. It makes sense that last year and this year Embree may have some people due to his Redskins days...but when does that run out??

Anyone who is worth a damn down there is going to LSU and until CU becomes relevant again, it seems like a waste of time.

I think we all just want good players. Doesen't really matter where their from.

Secondary. The area has numerous gifted players, and CU has had a history with bayou players. Lotsa speed and athleticism down that way.

Will recruiting L'uziana be a little more difficult with CU's move to the 12PAC? Yeah, I think so. But when we return to prominence, it should become a bit more productive.

If EB and McGee didn't have any connections down there I'd be okay with crossing it off the list, but since they do have connections down there we might as well try to exploit them.

That Kordell guy wasn't bad, back in the day. But I agree with the observation that southern boys don't seem to appreciate the awesomeness that is Boulder, and are more inclined to get homesick.

this, seems to apply to the whole SEC, excepting maybe Florida, where more kids end up all over the country (probably a numbers thing)

Seems like a waste of time, at least right now. I'd prefer to keep the focus squarely on CA, CO, TX, and keep a secondary focus on areas like NJ, HI, ..

I would like to see us make a little bit of effort there. Right now though, LSU absolutely owns that state right now. The current recruiting coordinator for LSU, Frank Wilson, got his coaching career started in New Orleans and also had an administrative job there in athletics for the entire New Orleans school district before moving on to the college ranks.

We should be cultivating some relationships down there for the future though.

I wonder how many of the Fla families are transplants from other locations? It's possible that a number (even if somewhat small) of players weren't native floridians and hence, have loyalties elsewhere.

What connections do they have in La? EB was born there, but moved to Cali at an early age. And KM is from Houston, which is close, but not La.

I'd like to try and pluck a guy or two from LA, but the idea of setting up a LA pipeline is probably a pipedream

It has always been a secondary place at best. Hell, we didn't pull Kordell until we had national rep strong enough to pull him out of there. I think our secondary efforts have gone to places like AZ and NJ instead. With LSU owning the state and the entire SEC West going ape**** right now, I think it would be a waste of resources, especially with no one owning places like NJ, AZ, and especially Cali with USC and UCLA down.

Good post. I am a bit surprised to see how few offers we have to guys in AZ (especially with two former Wildcat coaches on staff) and Las Vegas, but perhaps that will change over the next six weeks during the spring evaluation period.

Barnett seems as i recall to have recruited some kids from LA and a db from Evangel Christian, the juggernaut HS that produced a lot of big-name, 5 star, flop in the SEC QB's. weren't the Booty's from Evangel Christian? i don't remember any of the Gary's LA kids produce. i don't think the db even lasted a season.

Just my opinion but it seems like as of right now, Louisiana has been substituted for NJ. Can't really blame them. Seems we have a bird in hand on that one. We've even bumped Kanavis over in that direction to recruit those Don Bosco kids.

I'd like to get back into LA but somebody stated it best earlier in this thread... until we start winning, there is no way a kid is going to us over LSU, UT, any Texas team, ect.
