seems like kind of a puss move (take my ball and go home), but no conference 2 year ineligibility....why not? not like we are stacked at the QB position.

Worth a phone call. Re-joining Watson at Louisville seems like the most likely destination, though.

His best bet would be to go to a division II school or go to a Juco. He has already used his redshirt year so sitting out just means less reps. It would be good for him to go somewhere that he can get on the field and play right away. It would not be that bad of a deal for CU if he did come here. Hansen is a senior and I do not feel we are loaded at QB.

There would be a logjam with Hirsch and Dorman, who are at the same or one year different in eligibility, though.

I assume this is Blaine's brother? Where's the other 5 inches on him?

Also, I'm not opposed to having QBs in the 6' area. Just because Cody, who was probably more 5'9 than 6'0, wasn't really good, doesn't mean there aren't some good QBs out there that weren't gifted with 6'2+ size. Cody's main problem, well one of, was that he was as mobile as Dan Marino, but had the size of Doug Flutie. If you're going to be small, you had better be a mobile QB.

Lightly recruited because of his size, but the dude will be a good QB at the college level imo.

On the topic of transfers, sounds like Georgia RB Washaun Ealey will be looking for a new home in the near future...

meh. no. He clearly couldn't beat out James Franklin, who is isn't very good. Not worth a scholly, particularly for one season.

It wouldn't be for one season I don't think. He's redshirted one and he'd sit out a 2nd. If he played a 3rd, he'd be eligible to be drafted, but that's not realistic.

He doesn't seem to fit the prototype Embree is offering (6'4" +), but..... he IS about the same size as Drew Brees.......

Since teams couldn't talk to this guy until he had his release, it would seem that his personal QB coach (Skip Stitzell) may have reached out to a few coaches. He and Mr. Watson (he my former neighbor) are known to be buddies......

Without compromising, I think Embree needs a QB in the mix from the class of 2009 or 2010 who can compete with Hirschman next year, and serve as a backup if not. Ideally, a HS QB recruit should have 2-3 years of college under his belt before he is thrust into starting, IMO.

Thank you. It amazes me how so many people think the biggest thing holding back Cody Hawkins was his height. Far from it.

We should not be automatically dismissing every prospect under 6-3.

Would have a hard time seeing his last name on our team. I have enough bad memories of Missouri beating up on us. Mizzery? Really? Man we were awful.

James Franklin was a 4 star QB coming out of HS and played at Missouri in 10 games as a true frosh and I thought he looked pretty good against CU. By all accounts Gabbert was neck and neck with Franklin through out spring drills...which is not a bad thing, IMO. You have two QBs who are talented and basically the same age so one is going to go. It is not one season it is 3, he just finished his RS year so he has 4 to play 3 if he goes to a Div 1 school.

Gabbert has decided to leave Louisville now. Wanted to return to Mizzou, but they told him 'no'. Will be interesting to see where he lands. If I were him, I'd look at places like Purdue where shorter QBs have been very successful.

Wow. This is screaming of prima Donna headcase issues.

Let's see, we have a short QB. We have a guy who can't make a decision and stick with it. We have a guy who talks a better game than he plays.

Where's Dan Hawkins, now that Cody is out of eligibility sounds like we have the perfect guy for him. (This is not intended to refer to anything about Cody other than his height, despite his dad I do respect him as a Buff.) Dan can't decide on what he wants and neither can Gabbert, match made in heaven.

I Like the QB we have and the spacing in there eligibility

Tyler Hansen 6' 1" SR
Nick Hirshman 6' 3" RFR
Brent Burnete 6'3" JR
Stevie Dorman 6'4" FR
Shane Dillon 6'5"
