'12 TX RB Benjamin Catalon (Signed to TCU)

Saw him with his parents & CU officials at Pasta J's on Saturday night. He did seem small (& I'm 5'8) but was pretty stocky.

So he's another EB. But with more speed. We can only hope we're that lucky with him.

He got the TCU offer he was looking for, getting a little bit nervous here.

BTW, just for Walk, he now has 6 BCS offers, so it is all the more important we hang on to him.

Oh ****, that's not good, the TCU offer. Maybe we can work the you'll freeze your ass off in the Big East angle. 10.82 hundred is good for anyone but somebody that short is gettin it.

I think he's gone to TCU and Baylor may actually be 2nd is the way I read this. His commitment to CU was premature and he was never fully committed in my mind.

He wanted to stay close to Houston this whole time and is undervaluing the effect EB will have on his opportunities to play in the NFL imo....

EB is his best shot at being ready for the NFL. Plus, going to school away from home opens you up to a whole new experience.

Not directed at BB (even though I quoted him), because I think he agrees with me on this point, but...

This is why I always say to trust the film and our coach evaluations. BJ didn't suddenly become a better player when the new offers came in. But all of a sudden, peoples' opinion of him is that he's a guy we can't afford to lose when very recently I was reading crap about him being like a Hawkins recruit who other programs didn't want. BJ's a player.

As far as holding on, we have three things working in our favor:

1. He's already committed, which puts us in the lead position.
2. He's an early enrollee, so his decision timeline is shorter.
3. Bieniemy is recruiting him, and he almost never loses guys once he gets them to verbal.

I'm nervous, but I'm not in panic mode.

I think this kid has special speed. I'll be disappointed if we lose him. That being said, I imagine that HB will be one of the positions we get the most talent at over the next couple years because of EB.

I agree and we have quite a bit of NFL experience on this staff. Reason I bring that up is you dont stay long as a coach in that league unless you can evalute, break down film and evaluate talent from film. Yes guys that have never coached in the NFL know film but in the league, it's at a different level. Im still nervous about this tho.

Where would you rather play games - Big East (Rutgers, Cincy, WVU, Louisville, Pitt) or PAC-12 (CU, Stanford, USC, Oregon, UW, Arizona, Utah).... And remember how UConn did in their BCS bowl game? yikers. They were 8-5 and got into the Fiesta Bowl!

Anyways, in all seriousness - that TCU offer is concerning, but as Buffnik said, we shouldn't be in panic mode. Maybe a phone call from Shane Dillon will help solidify him in the Black and Gold!

CU is putting together a very impressive class and it's still very early in the process. I'd tend to think that he'd want to be part of that.

I definitely like Catalon, but if he leaves there are a number of good RB prospects out there. It's not like the QB situation where all of the blue chips were dropping left and right. This guy is definitely pretty good, though, so lets hope he realizes TCU sucks.

You always have to worry because Texas kids seem to have strong attachments to Texas schools, unless they are set on leaving the state it is hard to get them to leave those allegiances.

On the other hand he liked CU enough to give a commitment and that was before he ever took an official visit. With the combination of the PAC12 vs. The Big East, the chance to play for a coach like EB, the chance to play and contribute right away to a program getting a new start, and the system he will have a lot of things to overcome in his mind to switch commitments. He also seems like he is a pretty serious student and there is a difference between CU and TCU or Baylor in that department as well.

Not a good thing to lose a commit, but it's way early here. IMO, if he goes elsewhere it's not a huge hit to this class or the future, I think I'll hold faith in EB to get other, and hopefully higher profile, RBs committed.

That was fast, they just offered. He must have really wanted to go to TCU.

Good luck to him, but wasn't exactly jumping for joy at his original commitment....think EB can land bigger and better fish
