Mormons and Fuskers invading Denver?

Big Names Lining Up to Face Cougars

As has been rumored for a while now, it does appear as if BYU is close to announcing a three-game series with Wisconsin and Nebraska. Both series will reportedly include a game in each team’s home stadium, as well as at a neutral site. The biggest challenge in finalizing these deals has been the arrangement of neutral site locations.

Let's hope for JerryWorld as BYU-Oklahoma was a pretty well sold game there. Both teams need to keep a presence in Texas for recruiting, so would make lots of sense....but, if not, will they try to play at Invesco?

Another interesting tidbit from the "realignment year":

In recent days a rumor has also surfaced regarding BYU potentially joining the Big East Conference. Deep Shades of Blue has learned that the conference did indeed contact BYU about becoming a football-only member, but that the proposal was turned down by the BYU administration

The comment section is ripe with goodies.

Husker first. BYU second. You can take a boy out of Nebraska...
. I got my PhD from Nebraska two years ago and if we could get a home-and-home series with the Huskers I would have to wear a split shirt. Football Saturdays are crazy in Memorial Stadium and the Husker fans are some of the best and most classy fans I have ever been around.

Stay classy, Nub fan.

Please be true. I would sell my wife to get front row tickets to watch my huskers play my second favorite team.

As if Nebraska might slip back into Beebe's warm embrace
One scenario that could happen is Nebraska could get shoved back to the Big-12 due to their recent expulsion from the academically prestigious AAU. The general feeling amongst Big-Ten presidents over the last couple of decades has been if they ever take a non-AAU school it would be Notre Dame. A Notre Dame desire to join the Big-Ten could jettison the Cornhuskers and despite the bad blood developed last year during the realignment, the Big-12 would take Nebraska back, their loss was highly destabilizing to the Big-8 old guard (Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma etc…). Colorado on the other hand was much more amicable and had actually been in the works since Arizona & Arizona State made the Pac-10 back in 1978. Many sources felt that Dan Beebe and the league presidents had plans to invite BYU immediately had they merely lost Colorado.

Not any respect for CU.
BCS conferences care about TV markets, not winning % (see PAC-10 adding Colorado).

The Big 10 isn't going to kick the fuskers out. That's just plain stupid.

Ahhh Mormons ... they buy seats but no concessions. They're usually a hindrance to making money from events, they won't buy food or booze, and they'll try to find free parking.

The fuskers will make up for it. So long as there's plenty of Runzas, Schlitz and PBR around, they'll find the extra change in the seat cushions.

Would be a ticket-selling no-brainer to do a Fusker game on a "neutral" at Invesco, but I DON'T WANT IT! Go to Jerryworld and perish.

Wisconsin-BYU here would be pretty cool.

On Wisconsin for that one

Wait, nub got expelled from the AAU? Classic.

first time they've ever dumped a school. i'll bet right now there's some NU admins who have a lot less job security, despite what they've been saying publicly....you wonder if this happened 16 months ago if NU is in the Big Ten (conference in which every member is an AAU member).

i doubt the feasibility and ticket sales for a CSU-someone else Invesco game. i'm not putting my azz on the line re: Ram fans actually showing up. OU-BYU at JerryWorld.....more OU grads in Dallas and North Texas than CSU in Denver...at least willing to show up for their team.

Was there mention of a CSU-someone else game at Invesco? Not sure I follow you, or if I missed something?

The only games I'd like to see at Invesco would be:
CU-Nebraska
CU-Notre Dame
CU-BYU
CU-Air Force
Air Force-Navy
Air Force-Army

Don't kid yourself. If, and I mean if, BYU and Nebraska work a deal so that one of their games will be played at Invesco. That game will more then likely be a sell out, and there will be a good number of Buff fans and CSU fans in attendance. Oh, and not to mention all of the Husker fans who live and thrive on the Front Range in Colorado. Yea! They'll be there in numbers too!

Good Luck in the 12 Pac!

Don't flatter yourself. There wouldn't be any CU or CSU fans who would go to that game. Seriously. In the first place, CSU fans don't even go to watch their own team play, much less somebody else's. In the second place, CU fans would have better things to do.

Honestly, it wouldn't draw CU fans. I'd comment on CSU fans if there were any.

I'm sure it would draw well from the Nub and BYU fan bases, though. For both groups, a trip to Denver to watch their teams play football would sound better than spending New Year's in Paris.

Do you really need to embed pictures with a dimension of 300x17.700 pixels?

Think before you post.

Like Sacky said, CSU can't even get fans to that game when their team is in their "super bowl". What makes you think they will come watch anything else?

wait, what?

you honestly think that a CU fan would pay money to watch knu play anyone other that CU? and on top of it, BYU? at invesco?

you are honestly making that case? really?

no, i mean.... really? you are serious about that?

and you expect to have any cred here what so ever?

why? and i mean that. why? that is just complete stupidity.

if BYU and knu were ranked 1 and 2 in the nation i could see a few dozen CU fans buying tickets just for the experience part of it. as things stand now.... you are out of your freaking mind. dumbass.....

has anyone here been to a BYU game? I got to Air Force games when CU isn't playing. BYU are the most obnoxious fans out there even worse than nub fans. My personal hell would be being surrounded by nubs and BYU fans.

In a perverse way, I'd like to see a playoff system in CFB with one bracket reserved for the most obnoxious fan bases. Eligible schools in that bracket includes the likes of BYU, Nebraska, Texas, Ohio State and Alabama. Their fans would have a venue to go at it like rival gang members. This would be for the enjoyment of everyone else.

Then the other more civilized bracket would benefit by not having to put up with their crap.

And both programs are still a long ways away from number 1 and 2 in the country. Oh and I still wouldn't go watch if that once ina blue moon scenario happened. I probably wouldn't even watch on TV.

I went to the 1988 Freedom bowl when we played BYU. I can't recall their fans, I just remember going to Disneyland and it pouring buckets on us at a New Years eve party.
