waiting on some recruiting news on a kid we are still following...

Hmmmmmm

pribuff Just finished our camp conversation....camp numbers look great for this year...Still trying to get this recruit....

I think Daniels is supposed to make his decision this weekend. Any chance Boyle still has a shot?

That's on the table until it's not.

(Deep, huh?)

I think a JUCO is more likely, though. I'd love to get one more piece for this season, whether it's a big, a slasher/athlete or a shooter. I think we've got a group that can be good, but one more guy we can count on would give me a lot more confidence heading into the season.

So you're saying we could use a big guy. Or a swingman. Possibly a point guard. I'm no expert or insider, but I'm thinking that if we do sign someone now, it'll be one of those three things.

If it is Silva, is he good enough to start his first year or are we looking at a solid bench performer his first year who will combine with Mills (who hopefully would redshirt) to be our twin towers?

Words of wisdom!

The list of prospects with known Buffs offers has pretty well dried up, so I'm curious to see who they're still in on. I'd agree a JUCO is most likely and, if so, I'd like to see another shooter. Brown and Adams should help fill the slasher role, but they really need someone else to help spread the floor.

PG is the one position I didn't say.

I would love to get a big man (ideally a junior for class balance) who we could pair with Harris-Tunks and allow us to redshirt Mills.

But I also think that a jump shooter to replace what Levi gave us or another athlete to help us cause matchup problems and run teams out of the gym could go a long way.

Whatever it is, I just think this team needs the shot in the arm that another effective piece would give it. I'm ok with a building year with a mediocre record, but I don't want to suffer through a rebuilding year.

I just think unless we can land Daniels (and I am trying to refuse to get my hopes up there), we have to go for another big. In a perfect world we can red-shirt Mills that way. I'm biased when it comes to Dufault, but I think he's a solid big and a rotation of Harris-Tunks, Dufault, Roberson and Silva would be pretty damn solid. Plus, if Cain turns out to be as good as advertised, and then we add Gordon & Scott in 2012...

I'm really hoping that Tomlinson gets over the mental block he has when it comes to shooting because he's not as good as Levi, but he could be a decent stop-gap in that role.

What makes you think he's referring to a '11 prospect?

The "still following" part of it. I'm definitely reading between the lines, but that word choice wouldn't seem to make sense if it was a 2012 or 2013 guy.

Id like to see us add another player for this year but we shouldn't just do it for the sake of it. It seems were in a good place with several quality '12 players and there is always transfers alla Carlon Brown so id rather we didn't waste a scholarship on a player whose still out there possibly because no one else wanted him. Silva is such a good prospect that not one of the recruting services has even bothered to make a profile page for him. Tads not stupid, im sure he feels the same way as me, im just sayin...

It sucks not having the time to follow recruiting. I feel so out of the loop on everything. Hey, Nik, wanna send me a weekly personal newsletter thing with bullet points that will take me 10 minutes or less to get caught up on everything? That's rhetorical. I look forward to the first edition due this Sunday.

you are really going to have a rough go of it in the real world.

If the staff feels like a player can contribute next year, they need to take him. As much as I like the idea of pulling in some of the big names the Buffs are in on in the '12 and '13 classes, those prospects will lose interest pretty quickly if the team struggles next year. For a program without an established track record, it's crucial to maintain the momentum, and anyone who can contribute to that plays a pretty important role in the future of the program.

I have no idea who this potential player is, but I ONLY want a true big that can play next year. No project like Mills, no face-the-basket big, nobody rather-marginal at best like Eckloff, WE NEED BEEF up front. Silva could do that.

I honestly don't even want Daniels anymore. His recruitment is one of the oddest ones I've come across, and I'm really not a fan of his indecision. I wish him the best. Some may say that there is no way a program such as CU can turn down a player like that...oh yes there is. I applaud Bz for having the balls to stop recruiting Witherspoon (not that he would have come here though) because he didn't like his attitude. Daniels plays a position that CU is looking good at, and he is not that amazing of a player (NOT a one-and-done type of talent, or even two for that matter...in my opinion, but as some of you clearly know, I can be wrong about ****). As odd as it sounds, if the possible addition ends up being Daniels, I'm actually going to be sort od disappointed. I want a big that is about the team. Not a good talent that feels that he's great.

pribuff We have a scholarship available but I can't talk specifically on who we are Trying to recruit...those are the rules....

Former Penn State guard Taran Buie visits Hofstra Friday, per Jim Hart of Albany City Rocks. Considering Towson and Colorado too.

Buie averaged 6 ppg and 15 min of playing time as a freshman PG/SG at Penn State this year. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=51051

He had some minor off the court problems and decided to transfer in April. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6385062

Coming out of HS he was rated as a 4 star prospect by ESPN and 3 star top 150 player by Rivals.

Prioleau made if sound like they were after someone who is part of the '11 class so I don't think it's a transfer, but if we don't add another player it sounds like Buies a possibility.

That's a very interesting development.

I'm kind of hoping we find a JUCO grad we can get through admissions. I'd love to add a junior so that we will still have a 2013 scholarship available.

What happened to the juco from Wyoming? ... the big kid that was on the radar this past spring

I'm all for adding a quality transfer but any '11 player who is still uncommitted probably isin't very good, i'd rather just save the scholarship for this next cycle.
