Anyone else pick up their copy yet? Swung by Tattered Cover on my way in. Unfortunately we have the B1G 10 cover. Along with the "All Pac-12" Team notes from the other thread, here's some more info:

Projected Pac-12 Standings

NORTH:
1.) Oregon
2.) Stanford
3.) Oregon St. (tie)
3.) Washington (tie)
5.) California
6.) Washington St.

SOUTH:
1.) USC
2.) Arizona St
3.) UCLA
4.) Utah
5.) Arizona
6.) Colorado

Says that he would expect CU to be improved this year, but we have a brutal schedule. He doesn't think we'll match last season's win total.

Preaseason Top 10:
1.) Alabama
2.) Oklahoma
3.) Boise St
4.) Oregon
5.) Virginia Tech
6.) Notre Dame
7.) LSU
8.) Texas A&M
9.) Georgia
10.) Florida St

Other Teams of Note:
12.) Nebraska
16.) Stanford
17.) USC
18.) Texas
19.) Oklahoma St
22.) Arizona St
30.) Air Force
38.) Mizzou
46.) UCLA
48.) Cal
49.) Texas Tech

Regarding the PAC South I think ASU is overrated and nobody is accounting for Slick to lose 2 games due to game day incompetence. I also think people are underrating Utah because then came from the MWC.

I was really surprised to see UCLA so high on Steele's lists. If it were anyone else, I'd write it off, but now I'm wondering if they might be able to make some noise. Of course, the biggest problem with Steele's rankings is that they don't really take coaching into account (which is why we were always overrated by him the last few years) and that is UCLA's biggest weakness.

I gotta take some issue with picking UCLA that high. Slick in his fourth year usually has pretty much sucked all the life out of whatever program he's infecting at that point in time. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see UCLA dead last in the conference.

He has been pretty inaccurate about Colorado during the Hawk era. Hope he continues to be inaccurate.

if Cal is a true #5 up north, no reason we can't beat them in Boulder.

however, the stretch from Oct 8 to Nov 4 is brutal.

@Stan
@UW
UO
@ASU
USC

i like us 2-2 OOC and a W over Wazzou at Folsom (3-2), but then it gets real.

Oh thank the Lord Jesus. That ****er (and I really like Phil Steele, but Christ!) has been picking us to be improved and **** for years! I take this as a positive sign that we might turn the corner sometime in the next decade.

Hasn't he picked CU as one of the teams he expects to "surprise" a couple years in a row now? Not surprised he isn't falling in that trap again this year.

The thing that scares me about UCLA is the talent they have on that squad. I think they're going to do really well running the ball. Jordan James is probably going to be a name we all know after this season. Plus having Nelson Rosario and Taylor Embree at WR can't hurt much. The big question mark besides coaching is at QB.

EDIT: I misspoke about their OL starters. Doh!:bang:

Looks like Texas and ND get the annual royal dick suck, not sure about UGA either.

OSU won't finish 3rd in the North after losing their whole offense in Rodgers, UCLA will finish in last in the South.

North -
1. Oregon
2. Stanford
3. UW
4. Cal
5. OSU
6. WSU

South -
1. USC
2. Utah
3. ASU
4. CU
5. Arizona
6. UCLA

Sorry, I don't see a Ricky coached squad being a good running team, I don't care if they have Barry Sanders.

Surprisingly, they ranked 32nd in the country last season. That probably was in large part because their passing offense sucked balls though.

I found it hard to believe that despite the detail that PS provides, they did put the Big 12 version of the mag at my Barnes & Nobles while I got the Pac-12 version in the mail.

And installing the Pistol offense. They let go of Chow and brought in a coach from Nevada to fine tune their offense. Nevada was the team that knocked off #3 Boise State last year. They racked up 528 total yds of offense on them.

I wouldn't be surprised to see UCLA have a decent season. I wouldn't mind seeing the weasel get fired either. It'll be fun to watch.

I can't ever recall a coach who did less with more talent than Ricky Neuhisel. Remember 1997? We were the pre-season #1 team and finished 5-6. The guy has a knack for screwing things up that should be so good. The guy could coach the 85 Bears and still find a way to lose. He's soft. His teams are soft. CU should beat the piss out of them based on that alone - as should the rest of the conference.

The weasel used an ineligable player. So the NCAA made us forfiet those games.

Is it just me? Or is anybody else seeing Phil make a lot of predictions based on feelings this year. He shows all of his research, but his forecast on a lot of teams seems to go against some of his data.

Seems that way with CU since four OL starters are back in addition to a 1,300 yd rusher in Stewart. We got some capable WRs & TEs. If the offense stays on the field, the defense should be okay.
