Liz Kritza digs CU upgrades

I really want to see us build a great volleyball program. I think we're on the right track. The new facility will make a huge difference.

The Pac 12 is a much stronger conference for women's volleyball than the Big 12 ever was. Nebraska aside, who for some reason seemed to usually have a solid program - the rest of the conference is usually pretty mediocre.

i would think the Pac move would be a big boost here as well.

It is. But sacky makes a great point. With this opportunity comes challenges. A good squad that could finish 3rd or 4th in the Big 12 with a trip to the tourney could very well get worn down in the Pac-12 and finish 8th to 10th with no post-season play. It's the elite conference.

Big 12 was very top heavy in volleyball. Agree with the Pac 12 being stronger. Volleyball is huge on that coast, especially with the Pacific recruiting. Kritza can now put CU in competition with these schools for more of the Hawaiian players, whose high schools play a fast-paced, defensive-minded style of the game.

The PAC is definitely a stronger conference than the Big 12 in volleyball but not to the extent that sacky says. The Big 12 is definitely not "mediocre".

Here's the final poll results for the last 3 seasons:
final 2010: Pac 12: Cal 2 USC 3 Stanford 5 UW 6 UCLA 12, with UA and Oregon in the RV list. Big 12: Tex 4 NU 7 OU 21 Missouri 22 ISU 25. So both conferences ended with 5 teams ranked but the Pac teams were all in the top 12.
final 2009: PAC 12: Stan 7 Cal 8 UW 13 UCLA 14 USC 16 Oregon 18. Big 12: Tex 2 NU 5 ISU 6 BU 20 TAMU 21. So 6 Pac 12 teams and 5 Big 12 teams in the top 25.
final 2008: Pac 12 Stan 2 UW 5 Cal 6 UCLA 8 Oregon 9 USC 13 and Utah 16. Big 12 NU 3 Tex 4 ISU 12 KSU 20. Thats 7 Pac 12 teams and 4 Big 12 teamd ranked.

Kritza and company are going from a tough Big 12 conference to whats currently the toughest conference in the country. Pac 12 is also tougher across the board than the Big 12 is.
