From the list of prefered visits sounds like he wants to get out of the Maryland area, way out. If we can get him in for a visit with his favorable impression of EB we should have a good shot.
.

Man, I hope that's his visit list. LSU and Miami each have 4 Star RB commits already, and I really like CU's chances against New Mexico and Syracuse.

Thinking the same thing. We desperately need depth at RB.

Which is another way of saying that a quality RB coming into the program won't lack for opportunity to excell and attention from the coaches to develop his skills.

"I like Colorado because the running backs coach, Eric Bieniemy [when he was with the Vikings], got to work with Adrian Peterson. I saw [Bieniemy] on TV and how he criticized [Peterson] and pushed him to get better," Brown said. "That's something I respect and want from a coach - someone to push me."

Brown then went into further detail about the Buffaloes and Bieniemy.

"If a coach tells me they're going to do something, I don't believe it," he said. "They have to show me a player they've done it for. That's why I like Colorado. [Bieniemy] can show me how [he's developed a player like] Adrian Peterson [with the Vikings]. And [Bieniemy] still has a relationship with him - they still go out golfing and all that even though he's at Colorado now. That's kind of like the relationship I have with my coach at Good Counsel. That's very important to me [when I make my decision]."

Maurice Jones Drew and Chris Brown are also NFL running backs that EB coached. The guy knows how to get the most out of a running back. That's been documented.

This is just about what we expected when EB signed on... guys were going to sign up not just for the opportunity to star in a potentially great running attack, but that they also wanted to be coached by the real deal who's churned out some truly great HB's.

Love this.

What's the connection with New Mexico? Seems like an outlier with that offer list.

Mike Locksley. Dynamite recruiter in the DC/Maryland area and has been for a while, including a long time under Ron Zook.

he also said his brother was going there next year.

How much you wanna bet that UNM recruited his brother in the hope it would land him? Happens all the time. All things being equal, I'd love our chances going up against UNM for any recruit. Having his brother there changes the equation, though. Maybe being relatively close will be a reasonable accommodation. I sure hope so.

And he's been an utter train wreck at UNM. He's only employed because the new Gov decided that it would be fiscally irresponsible for the state to fire him in the current economic climate.

I grew up right next to the UNM campus and I love NM but there is no comparison between that and Boulder.

EB has some work to do. Miami has a clear lead here.

I could see him committing to Miami before the season starts, but I am guessing he still takes official visits. If we can get him out on both an unofficial and an official visit, we could be the darkhorse here.

5 star on scout. Would be nice to get, but also last two 5 star RB's have been major busts for us. Msybe 3rd times a charm?

all eb has to do is tell him he see a lot of AD in wes

He has commented that he really likes and respects EB as a coach. He is a kid who has a lot of offers to pick from but I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up a Buff.

He is also a kid with a very strong work ethic and desire to get better. No insult intended but the last two 5* type backs we had didn't seem to be overly excited about doing the work needed to get better, this kid seems to be all about getting better and doing the work he has to do to get there.

I won't say our chances are great but it is realistic to hope for this guy. If we get him he will be a difference maker. . .

The staff has upgraded the talent level of recruits who are willing to check us out. Hopefully now we can start to close on some of them. Definitely an uphill battle, but I would think this guy would have a better shot at early playing time here than at the U.

Miami is still Miami, even if they're down. But we have some significant advantages recruiting against them. I'll put our RB coach up against anyones, our facilities and on-campus stadium are better than what they have, and our campus is nicer. Location is personal preference whether you prefer the beach and the humidity or like the mountains and a sunny/dry climate. I also think that CU offers a nice college town/big city mix by being less than 30 miles from Denver while Miami is pretty much a city school. Finally, I think we need to emphasize the fact that training at Boulder's altitude has great advantages for athletes who have professional aspirations and it's why so many Olympians locate here.

EB needs to sell his ability to coach some of the best HB's in the league, and also Brown's ability to get on the field as early as his freshman year. Hammer that crap down his throat.

After that, we need to aim for 200 yds a game and around 2500-3000 as a team. IF kids see that type of production, they will sign up and we have a huge shot at Wes Brown I would think.
