Spring Depth Chart (per CUBuffs.com):
WIDE RECEIVER (X)
17 Toney Clemons, 62,210, Sr.
35 Kyle Cefalo, 5‐10, 170, Sr.‐
16 Will Jefferson, 5‐11, 190, Jr.
82 Jarrod Darden, 6‐5, 210, Soph.

WIDE RECEIVER (Z)
6 Paul Richardson, 6‐1, 165, Soph.
31 Keenan Canty, 5‐9, 150, Fr.‐RS
15 Jason Espinoza, 58, 180, Sr
86 Alex Turbow, 6‐1, 195, Soph.

Clemons, Cefalo and Espinoza graduate. So will Logan Gray the transfer from Georgia (1 and done)
Will Jefferson is already gone.
Jarrod Darden did not move up this spring and frankly, barring a big change, doesn't look like he'll play at this level.

Looking at 2012, from this depth chart, we have Paul Richardson who would be returning for what may be his final year. That is it. Nobody else on the current roster, under scholarship, who has played a down of CU football, is on the roster today and will be here in 2012! Everyone expects Canty will be a contributor and nobody has pulled the plug on Darden, but he was pretty far down the chart at the end of spring.

Coming in this fall we have 3 WR's, of which I'd guess 2 will play right away if not all 3.
The 2012 kids that come in will all have a chance to play as well. That's the rub. When you don't redshirt, you basically go forward a class.

The Pipeline could look something like this (assuming none of the current walkons on the roster make a big impact) going into 2012:

Jarrod Darden - JR
Paul Richardson - JR
Keenan Canty - SO
2011 guy - SO
2011 guy - SO
2011 guy - RS-F
2012 guy - F
2012 guy - F
2012 guy - RS

I got to believe that Embree will load up because that depth chart above relies on a lot of freshman to play over the next two years. All staffs miss on a guy or two here and there. This team needs playmakers and quick (with quicks). Kennedy had a lot of top recruits at Texas not contribute much for example.

We will take 3 at a minimum, but I have a hunch we could go to 4 if we can get a guy they want. Kennedy is off to a good start and there's still a lot of good ones showing some level of interest in CU. With a top QB committed, WR could be a position we exploit in this class.

They are 2 of the 2012 guys. Since I don't know which ones redshirt and which ones play, I've left names off for now.

What about the 2011 guys. Spruce, mcculough, and the Wisconsin commit. Nonetheless I agree we may take quite a few this year.

Maybe what I did is confusing? I show 3 guys in the above "projected 2012 chart" from 2011. This was for illustration purposes.

I suspect 2 will play, but I don't know which ones so I left the names off for now to illustrate the class separation you will get when you don't redshirt guys!:bang:

Not aware of a Wisconsin kid. We picked up Austin Vincent late who had an Iowa offer at one time....

I hope it's Vincent and Spruce playing this year. We are in for a long season if McCulloch ever sees the field.

The smart early money is that Spruce and Vincent play from the 2011 class while McCulloch redshirts.

But McCulloch gives us a big red zone target that's something different from our other WRs. It could be that all of them play as true freshmen.

I think we get 4 WRs this year as well. The two Thomas kids are a great start. I can see the staff wanting another smallish guy to play the slot and a big guy 6'4ish, although Jeffrey Thomas is pretty damn big and looked like he has some nice hops.

AZ has reported that the staff absolutely loves Cameron Countryman and Robert Lewis, so I'd guess those two are the smaller types that they're targeting. After that, they're apparently going blue chip or bust.
