Buffaloes already installing game plans

Definitely getting to be that time of year! Hopefully the planning for Hawaii pays off - playing them and winning last year should provide some confidence. Will not be an easy situation though, was just reading how Hawaii led the WAC in attendance last season with a little below 38k. Hopefully the O-Line is ready to step up and help this running game out, and hopefully the secondary can be as well groomed as possible (pumped to see Parker Orms back in action) as Hawaii had the #1 passing offense last year and returns Moniz at QB. On the bright side, aside from Moniz, they lost a fair amount. The Buffs are certainly due for a road win, crossing my fingers we can get the first brick in the Embree era - I know the players and fans are ready to put that road loss **** behind us and forget about it.

Hawaii won't be able to block thr blitzs CU send at em. Hawaii is replacing at least 4 and likely 5 players on their offensive line along with replacing a 1000 yard rusher and receiver.

any blitzing we do, and we have no way of knowing what the D calls will be like with this staff.....puts a lot of pressure on a very inexperienced D backfield. that having been said, i hope we are aggressive on D. the Ron Collins era was characterized by way too many gravy slow blitzes off the corner......when we did send someone....since we usually dropped 9 into coverage and played soft on the corner.

Better to be aggressive. You beat teams like Hawaii by forcing turnovers and having extra possessions. If you sit back and let them get into a rhythm, it's suicide - kind of like our defensive gameplans against Mizzou the past 5 years.

The song says suicide is painless. Therefore, suicide is nothing like our gameplans against Mizzou.

i don't know. they were over pretty quick. i sat in 104 with a grad school buddy who was visiting (2 for 1 deal from the AD) for the last prison-sexing of Dan Hawkins Colorado Buffaloes. I was calling the MU skinny post for a TD at the LOS...a couple times. the only time i've been to a CU game where the CU fans around me were laughing at the team. the first half was the single worst 30 minutes of football i've EVER seen. we had more fumbles than rushing yards at halftime. this is MU. everybody runs the ball on Pinkel. and this also the "downhill" run game new offense number 39 year....if you recall.

I dunno, still sounds painful...

If nelson spruce plays like scotty mcknight like TH says then we found a steal in recruiting. He would be the missing piece to our receiver corp for years to come.

maybe. i'd like to see us have 4-7 pass catchers in the mix (including the TE). not just a "Cody to McKnight" type guy.

the last couple years, if i'm an opposing DC i just knock down Scotty at LOS....and make Cody/Hansen try and make the next read.

I think I missed where someone suggested that every ball should be thrown to Nelson Spruce.

The Allbuffs threads would be epic, you gotta admit.

oh yeah. that's exactly what i said.

What point were you trying to make?

Hansen said that Spruce was like Scotty. You then went on a rant about how we need to use a bunch of receivers instead of focusing on one.

well, first i introduced my thought with "maybe". and then i do not think it's radical to suggest that the last few years we've had QB's throwing to fave receivers. i'd like to see us have more guys in the pattern and effective. including the TE (a position that disappeared a lot under Dan....Geer was badly underused).

seems like since Embree and Boyle were hired, it's off limits to have an opinion around here in some regards. i love the Buffs, but no a de facto cheerleader.

your rant was tangential and based on no facts. Hence the confusion. Enjoy your opinion, but be prepared to pay for it. You do know where you are right?

I believe Greg Brown said we were going to play aggressive on the defensive side of the ball to cover up for the secondaries weaknesses. If we blitz and Moniz can't get comfortable in the pocket we'll be okay.

Completely agree. I guess I just don't get what that has to do with Hansen saying that Spruce reminds him of Scotty when you say I was off base to think you were suggesting that Hansen would be throwing every ball to Spruce.

I don't think anyone here disagrees that we need to spread the ball around or disagrees that under the previous regime it seemed sometimes that we only had 1 guy in the pattern. But it's a new regime and if you go back and look at the box scores of the games Hansen started you'll see that he really spread the ball around a lot.
