I can't stop thinking about how HUGE the Hawai'i game is.

Of course, a big reason is that I am jonesing really bad for college football. This is a beautiful thing as I had lost that feeling the last couple of years under squawk. This season is basically setup around that Hawai'i game. Win, and we get an absolutely enormous boost in confidence as the players will understand that they have better coaching already. It is also one of the winnable road games that is essential to getting to the 7 win mark. Lose and a bowl game is almost guaranteed to be gone. I'm not trying to make it out as a program maker or breaker for Embree, because it isn't, but it certainly appears to be a season maker/breaker. The good news is that it is obvious Embree and his staff and players recognize this as well.

Hawaii is going to struggle with all the key players they need to replace. And we beat them with a high school coach already although that game could have been ugly heading into half. We need to be headin into the brunt of our schedule at 4-1 though.

i posted this before but JE and EB had the kids (10 year old type kids) chanting "Beat Hawaii" at the CU kids camp in June. i like the focus.

a bit contrary to most, i can live with a Hawaii loss....there's a lot of calculus why this might be an L. QB is good, unusual roadie with distractions for a first year staff and a team that must have a lot of doubts about itself....as long as we are 2-2 OOC. i won't ask anyone to remember Barnett's first game in 99....but i'd take a repeat of that year and sell my mother to white slave traders in Morocco....no questions asked.

not really, prolly.

Hawaii is a tough place to play at, there is so many distractions for the kids, best of luck to CU on that game! I am also ready for some football.

good luck with Chattanooga. really? wha?

edit: i give you guys some credit this year for playing a decent OOC slate. last year was a joke. big joke.

To be honest, I was eyeballing the fusker OOC schedule this year and to me it is a thing of beauty. You open up the year with a home cupcake (Chat), then have a home game against a solid mid-major(Fresno), along with a roadie at another cupcake/mid major (WYO) then finish with a quality BCS opponent(Wash). I would take that every year here at Colorado.

i agree. Chatt is a bit too much of a cupcake....but, i think that's the skeletal formula you need. go Cowboys (they had UT in there a couple years ago....that's good work from someone). Dr. Tom is a guy who got a free pass for a lot of things, but he's been around the game and isn't a money-changer like Pederson was. everybody but bugeater fan knew pederson and callahan was a bad combo.....from the get go.

i assume Fresno is a one-off....not a return game for the bugmunchies in CA.

In 2012 we have UCLA and Southern Miss, I was not trying to dice the CU vs. Hawaii game, just saying it is a tough place to play with all the distractions

southern miss is a very good, regional program. but a top all-timer program like Nebraska should NEVER be listing them as a top opponent. are you guys ever traveling to Hattiesburg? doubt it. come on? if you aren't doing home-home....it's not a real OOC. it's a payday and expected W in front of the end-zone sitting, red polyester horde.

I'm looking forward to seeing how many CU fans are in the stands in Honolulu.

I think you'll be quite surprised. When we had Warrior season tix in '07, I'd always wear a CU hat with my UH garb and always got a lot of "GO BUFFS!" remarks. Think it goes to the fact having Cabral on the staff and how we recruit Hawaii. Cabral is somewhat of a legend out there.

However, alot of those people giving the "Go Buffs!" were Warrior fans at heart, so that tide will change. Good news though is that they are friendly fans, so everyone going should have a really good time.

I doubt they're as nice as Miami Hurricane fans. Cane fans are the most polite, classy, sincere, humble fans on the face of the planet.

Good to know it is just that easy.Do you understand the difference between playing Hawaii at home versus on the road (especially considering our road struggles of late)? Try to dig a little deeper than the surface every once in a while.

I agree with most of your post but really? This staff who by all accounts is so much better than the previous staff, a win vs hawaii should be expected after the last horrific 5 years shouldn't it?

If we lose to hawaii and finsih with 3-4 wins like most are predicting, recruiting isn't going to flourish and cu will continue downward.

Sorry but I expect a win vs hawaii, we beat them last year and it wasn't close( I know second half) and we should be able to generate enogh offense vs their defense to win this game.

The UH game is going to come down to turnovers and special teams, IMO. It's likely going to be a high scoring game, like 45-42 or something like that, with the difference being a turnover. If CU can generate a decent pass rush, and get a couple picks, we have an excellent chance of winning the game. UH probably still can't run the ball, and CU's D-Line should be able to keep their running game contained. I worry a lot about CU's secondary getting torched, though. We're going to give up a lot of plays, I'm afraid. On the flip side, I think our offense should be able to move the ball pretty well against UH.

Yes I do and I also realize that we have a 18 game road losing streak but that still doesn't take away the fact that Hawaii lost all their O line and a 1000 yard rusher and receiver. Moniz is a great QB but without a line it's tough to run an offense.

I expect a win, I just doubt it will be easy.

They may not have many returning starters, but a lot of their projected starters are upperclassmen, several of whom have experience. The OL is a question mark, but it is going to be a smoother transition than normally would happen with so many graduating seniors.

I'm stoked I'm gonna be at this game. Gonna try and keep the tailgating under control, I'm very curious on what we are gonna look like.

I'm guessing we will have helmets, probably gold colored with a traditional CU ralphie logo. Then we will probably have jerseys, the white variety seeing how we are on the road. I hope to god they wear pants, and I'm betting on black for those. Then there will be some turf shoes on thir feet.

Must... resist... urge... to... neg... rep...

CU will win and win EASILY. This 4 win crap is BS. The black and gold is back and the buffs will show that THIS year.

It is gonna be super tough. It will really be a great way to break in the corners because if UH's O line does suck Moniz might just end up chucking jump balls up for the WRs. I expect at least 40 passes from him.

Creatini may be young and say some dumb stuff.... BUT would you have been so harsh had anyone said this but Creatini (or BCS)? They can be annoying at times, but come on I've seen many a negative comment towards those two that others would not have been given had it not been those two. Just to play devils advocate here.

I've said that numerous times but always got insulted or called out for something else. Doesn't bother me but glad to see that I am not the only one who noticed that.

By the way Boulder, I'm glad you were some all knowing, all powerful, and perfect 19 year old. Will you teach me your ways?
