Shades of Marcus Williams at UConn.

UCLA senior guard Jerime Anderson has been suspended from the men's basketball team indefinitely following his arrest Tuesday in connection with a stolen laptop, the school announced Wednesday.

*snip*

Anderson averaged 5.0 points and 2.6 assists for the Bruins last season and emerged as a key player off the bench as the team's sixth man. At the season-ending banquet, he was awarded two awards: one for competitive spirit, inspiration and unselfish contributions and another as most improved player.

Where's my laptop? *clap clap clapclapclap*

Story.

Short version - I'm sick of the NBA and this is my nickname at work. You already know the parrot story, so continuing the theme of birds hating me, I was in a bad car accident 2 years ago because of a goose. So the nickname stuck.

Did you hit your head on the windshield?

In other UCLA news, here's a good analysis of their starting lineup. Gotta admit, their frontcourt is pretty damn scary.

How might this affect our recruiting? (and no jokes about hookers or parties or blow)

UCLA being down in basketball (and playing an unappealing style under Ben Howland) really gave us some opportunities with LA talent, especially coupled with USC getting busted for Floyd paying OJ Mayo's bag man. Our 2011 class is proof of this. We'll see how we close 2012. There is definitely opportunity for us right now in the most fertile recruiting grounds of the Pac-12. Continuing problems at those programs help. We gotta keep winning, though.

Interesting that you mention Howland's style of play. Gary Parrish of CBS wrote an article talking about the knocks on Howland when it comes to recruiting, including:

They say Howland's style of play doesn't let prospects "show their talents" offensively?
They say his defensive-minded approach isn't fun.

They say he's hard to play for.

I can see those complaints, but I think Arizona Desert Swarm had a great rebuttal about that saying that its' a little overblown. UCLA is still putting out quality NBA players every year (borderline superstars in some cases like Kevin Love!, Russell Westbrook and possibly Jrue Holiday when it's all said & done) and honestly they have a history that makes them one of the top 5 programs in the game.
