Kicked off the team after being arrested for punching a kid in the face and robbing him on the hill the other night. Sad.

Edit: looks like this has already been discussed in another thread. Still sad he's in involved in this, hopefully he can get some help and turn himself around.

Wish I could say this is a surprise but it isn't.

Huge waste of talent, I hope somehow he gets his act together before he screws up his life entirely.

He has wasted enough chances at CU, don't see how the coaches had much choice other than to drop him from the team, especially facing these charges

I have a feeling it's already too late. Not sure many places like seeing someone with a felony robbery conviction on their record if he does in fact get convicted which I can't think of a instance where he doesn't.

Embree: "That ship has sailed."

Way Embree talked, seemed like he didnt even expect him next year. A long, long shot to make it back. I dont have any doubt he had reasoning for that.

A lot of doors are closed already but there are people out there with felony records from when they were young who are living pretty successful lives. Problem here is a pattern of behavior which unless he turns it around is going to result in him doing some serious jail time and coming out with not only the felony record but years behind others he is competing with in society. Worse it seems like he just keeps making bad decisions that will keep making his hole deeper.

Only positive for Bryce, geez if there is one, is he didnt get the assault charge too. He better lawyer up.

Bryce is a loser plain and simple. He has been given every opportunity to succeed and he has ****ed it up. Some day he may change for the better and I hope so, but for now just a sad piece of humanity.

I'm uncomfortable with this level of excoriation. The kid screwed up, let his parents do this kind of talking.

why only his parents buffedup paid taxes, which paid for his schooling and he may have even donated to CU or went to CU games which paid for his scholarship. Remember we are a society, not just a group of individuals.

Highly impressed with your word choice. I am going to try and slip in that word during the day.

Maybe his parents never did this kind of talking, and that's a big reason for why he's in the situation he's in.

That's a big maybe. Perhaps you should ask them. If you want to lead the torch wielding villagers, be my guest. I'm just bummed about this.

All of these are true, but I want to clarify that I am not out to attack the guy. More than anything, I'm saddened by what he is doing with his life regardless of his status as a CU football player. I truly hope he gets it turned around, but there is simply no excuse for his actions.

If this were an Ohio State player, G.Gee would be talking about how the scholarship is not enough and the kid just needed to get some spending money.... nothing to see here....

First it starts with trying to **** a word, the next thing you know, it's sheep. ntttwwrt.

Where the hell is the parental guidance for this kid? Sorry he's at this point.

Anyone know what the status was of Given's case with the car vandalism? If he is on probation this charge is not going to help.

I don't want to turn this thread into He who shall not be named bashing, but I can't help but think and wonder what kind of person mr givens would be if he had received a little bit of discipline while here in boulder. Situation reminds me of my cousin, who seemed destined for trouble. He ended up joining the army reserves to pay for college and the change in his demeanor and temperment was unbelievable. Some people need to get their asses chewed out when they screw up, and doesn't sound like bryce had that from the previous regime.. I hope he finds something/someone that can help him. So unfortunate to hear that he is continuing on a destructive path, but hope that he returns to school when permitted and gets his degree.

In the comments section.

"Ah, CU football! Never mind that it's a perennial money-loser and $8 million in debt. It's worth it because it sets such a fine example for all the kiddies."

No matter that Givens was suspended from the school already or that the football program is one of the most profitable in the nation.

I think yo are dead wrong...D II took away Givens' Capri Sun once, there was discipline a plenty on the Good Ship Lollipop under D II....

I consider him a kid for sure. Took me until a few years after college just to begin to get past the doing completely retarded things all the time stage.

I don't. I never got in any trouble in college and did my fair share of drinking and partying. Difference between him and us is that we made better decisions and were smart enough not to really screw up. There is being dumb, and then there is being a menace.
