i want to believe!

i want to believe that all this team lacked was d-1 quality coaching.

i want to believe that this staff has all the tools to build a winner.

i want to believe that all those seniors will come together.

i want to believe that our Buffs will find a way to make some noise despite the nation's hardest schedule.

i want to believe we'll see our Buffs playing in a bowl game.

GO BUFFS!!

I want to believe that we'll see a team that plays hard-nosed, disciplined football, and that we see marked improvement with each game.

I wanna believe the honeymoon extends beyond Hawaii.

wally, i always drink the koolaid.

i was there in 1986 when CU started the season miserably and yet managed to beat the fuskers for the first time in 20 years and get to a bowl for the first time in about 9 years. i believed in miracles then, too.

i believed in 89... i believed even when sal died. i believed that CU could go undefeated, even with the whole world saying it would be impossible.

and, i believed in 90. i believed even when the team started 1-1-1, including a crappy tie to tennessee to start the season. i believed when the team was only ranked about 13th with about 4 weeks left in the season. i believed that the rocket's return would be called back.

and, i believed in 94, when CU was down by a couple tds with 4 minutes left at the big house. i believed when kordell let that pass go with time running out.

and, i believed in 01, when CU handed the fuskers at that time their worst loss in history. and the next week when CU beat a texas team that shelled them earlier in the year.

and, i believed under freakin' hawkins when CU upset the #3 sooners as time expires.

and, yes, i believed last year too. i can't help myself.

every so often, it all comes together.

GO BUFFS!

You should believe in CU!

I truly think (even as an "outsider") that CU has the right staff in place. Finally! That's the most important part...

Hopefully they turn it around quick, even this year...

But it will take this staff at least 2-3 years (or 3-4) to have full recruiting classes to go along with their coaching before CU is truly "back".

I'm not saying CU can't be successful immediately, but any rebuild takes a little time. Luckily CU wasn't completely burned to the ground by Fraud 'Hawk...

BTW, LOVE the energy and vibe this staff gives off:nod:

I quit believing for a few years after Montana State. It was clear to me after one game that the hire was going to be a clusterf*ck. My belief is back big time now! Can't wait!

I believe a lot less after losing jered bell today. That hurt.

Definitely a loss, but it's not like anyone had really stepped up and grabbed hold to a CB spot. We are really in the same position that we were before today, needing a couple of guys to show they are ready to rise to the challenge.

i wanna believe i wont be let down. again.

im not asking for a 12 win season. i just want a team that is competitive. a team that does not look like a bunch of jackasses a lot of the time. 4 qrtrs of solid football. maybe over an entire game?

its a tough schedule. the wins my not reflect the improvment this team makes. i just want to see a ship headed in the right direction. for once. i want to see opposing teams that.... even if they may win this year... they dont want to play CU ever again. becuase they were hit squarely in the jaw by CU and they know that CU will only get better with the coaches they have, the attitude they bring and the talent they will recruit.

i believe!!! :woot: :gobuffs:

You slutty closet optimist. You're my kinda fan. You're right. Go Buffs!

Football seasons tend to come down to three things, talent, scheme, and attitude.

We have seen enough cases in the last five years where teams with significantly inferior talent to the Buffs won or almost won because of scheme and more importantly attitude.

The schemes are going to be better, the players will understand what is expected and how to do it, the players most capable of performing the schemes will be the ones on the field. Our coaches will have to be much better at adapting to what other teams are doing both in game planning and making in game adjustments, it would be hard to be worse than we have seen from the last staff.

What is going to cause problems is talent. Bringing in talent and developing talent is going to take time. While we have some good individual players and some interesting young guys but this element will take some time. We are not on a lot of kids radar after five years of futility, bad relations between CU and the HS coaches, and a number of guys on the new staff that will have to build those relationships and awareness from point zero. There will be some games this year where we can have a great game plan and a well prepared team with great attitude and still lose. We will get beat on talent.

At the same time we have seen often enough to the right attitude can do amazing things. It looks like the players are starting to believe, the last few years they haven't. Just like we got beat by less talented teams that had better attitudes I am believing that we can win some games against more talented teams because we have a better attitude.

The turn around for this team isn't that hard to figure out. Win the games we should so we don't take steps backwards and some we probably shouldn't based on talent and you start to build momentum.

At the very minimum I think this team is going to go into every game ready to play to their ability and give themselves a chance to win. Haven't been able to say that for awhile.

the problem is that we need 5 CB's ready to go for Hawaii....
