nothing new, except this guy is delusional.
"In the past we've sort of been reactive, I think the nine remaining members of the Big 12 have decided that the reactive behavior - it's time to get rid of that. It's time to be proactive and I think you'll see a very proactive approach... I think you ought to think of conference realignment with the Big 12 being one of the cornerstones."

Pleas take UNM and build them up for a few years so it makes sense to take them when we go to 16.

Very true. They just renonvated The Pit so they have the basketball facility and they are supposed to be working on the football stadium. It might not be big right now but they can easily expand it plus like Utah, they play their baseball games at a minor league baseball stadium. I honestly wonder why UNM keeps getting turned down as a future team of the Pac.

It seems to me that UNM might have seen things more clearly than CSU and got the ball rolling on the renovations knowing their oppournity could come sooner than later.

They are just not doing good in football right now but they have had good teams in past especially when Dennis Franchoise coched them before leaving for TCU.
 
Yes to inviting NM, that would be great for us. Give them a chance to position themselves so we can pick them up in place of this R'Tard's school.

Get yourself invited to the Big 12 for 2 years, put all that money into academics/athletic improvements. Get into the PAC deal. Profit. Done.

I really really hope the Big 12 invites NM.
 
NM has a long history with Arizona and TT. NM, TT, OU, and OSU still would be a decent package. The potential to develop rivalries with Mountain schools in one division would be great. I don't think we really need UT...they can go screw themselves.

Other than this board, no one in their right mind is talking about New Mexico as a potential member of a super conference....They have no real tradition, very small market - yes Albuquerque is growing but you can draw a circle around it 100 miles away and pick up no more people. New Mexico has been ranked in the polls once in their entire history and that was in 1964. Their attendance is worse than CSU's.

Saying they have natural rivalries with Arizona and TT is like people from the outside looking at us and Utah and say there is a rivalry there. Just not so in my mind.

If the Big conferences are going to add members it is going to be all about money. It you are going to give a team a seat at the table that is worth $20 million per year to them then there added value has to be more than $20 Million...

The Big 12 finds itself in a very precarious position. The guy from TT is right in the fact they have to start being proactive and come up with a plan. But unfortunately they will have a hard time addressing the real issue and that is the LHN and the unequal revenue sharing of the Big 12. Even the TT football coach says the Big 12 cannot sustain with the present revenue sharing plan. ISU, Baylor, KSU and TT are in trouble because their desirability level to other major conferences is low. Missouri, KU, and OSU are in slightly better shape on the desirability index. A&M is gone. As long as the LHN exists UT has a poison pill that the PAC 12, Big 10, and SEC will not touch. Larry Scott may like the idea of Texas but he will not be able to sell anything other than equal revenue sharing to USC, Oregon, UW, and UCLA for UT to get into the PAC.

Excellent points on New Mexico. Having been to ABQ many, many times other than the basketball support UNM brings nothing to the table.
 
Big 12 should offer invitations right now to New Mexico and Houston. Both fit the bill of what Texas wants: mediocre schools that won't mind letting UT and OU take a lion's share of the revenue pot because the scraps are better than what they would get elsewhere. They are both easy road games in stadiums that can seat 40,000 or more (using Reliant Stadium in Houston until new one is built on campus).

Texas Tech should love that idea so they can become the #2 Texas school in the Big 12 once A&M leaves. Then they could also add UTEP and have a Texas Division with the Longhorns nearly guaranteed a division title every year and most likely a re-match in Dallas against Oklahoma (who would be the every-year favorite to win the Big 6 Division).
