Espn is coming out with recruiting sites that are tied to schools. They are trying to launch a dozen sites by the end of the year just for high school recruiting.
The first 2 that will be launched are USC - Texas and they hope to have 4 more by early fall.
found the article in the sports business journal.

ESPN... primary CFB network... College GameDay... recruiting sites... Can we assume that these new ESPN sites will be slanted towards the teams who get the highest ratings? How does this affect the Buffs, who will play most of their games on Fox/Pac12 Network? (answer: negatively) I wonder if Texas, who is partnered with ESPN, will be the greatest beneficiary? Beginning of the end for all the premium sites.

Disagree Nikk. They will put up sites that will compete with the pay sites for schools that have a big following (SEC, top 1/2 of the Big 10, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Notre Dame, etc) to get those dollars but I don't see them spending the money to cover schools like CU where there won't be a significant return on their investment. College football is so regional and they don't care about schools that aren't going to make them a profit. I see there still being a demand for sites like this one that will give us in depth coverage of schools without a big national following.

I don't think we know if this will be subscription Insider content. If it is, the other recruiting sites should be fine.

It's the programs that bring thousands of subscribers that make it possible for the Rivals and Scout networks to employ all those regional and national scouts. Regardless, the prospect of ESPN making a real commitment to recruiting coverage was always the elephant in the room. Everyone knows that they can't compete with them if they come strong. Not too many people are going to pay 100 bucks a year for a premium scouting service when they can get the same or better info either for free or for the cost of a magazine subscription.

Well espn has the total qb rating so im guessing they have some crack staff working on a new and improved star rating system.

The ESPN forum rules - OUCH:
The forums are an open place to exchange opinions and ideas. They are NOT a place in which to attack or abuse anyone associated with USC, anyone associated with ESPN, or any other posters on this forum or any ESPN forum.

Here are some general guidelines to ensure a positive experience and a sense of community on the forums.

1. No profanity. This includes abbreviations for curse words, inserting other symbols for certain letters of a curse word, etc. If it can be interpreted as a curse word, don't use it.
2. No pornographic material. This includes posting obscene material, linking to obscene material, and/or using obscene material in an avatar or signature.
3. No racist or sexist comments. Again, if it can be interpreted as racist or sexist, don't use it.
4. No attacks on players, coaches, administrators, etc. Constructive criticism is allowed and welcomed. Just be careful to contain it to what actually transpires on the field and not make it personal. When it goes beyond the scope of the field or the court, it's not something that should be posted.
5. No posting of gossip regarding players, coaches, administrators, etc. If you have a legitimate news tip, the contact information for the writers of this site is easy to find. Posts that have no basis in fact will be removed.
6. No attacking recruits. If a player chooses another school, that doesn't give you the right to criticize him.
7. No attacking other posters. Stick to the topic and don't allow it to become personal. If it does, you could be banned. It's fine to disagree; it's not fine to attack the other poster or make them a target for harassment just because you disagree.
8. No flaming. If your posts are done only to agonize and they don't further any discussions, the posts will be deleted and you'll be subject to being banned.
9. No spamming.
10. No posting of commercial offers.
11. No posting on political topics.
12. No posting any material that violates any right of a third party or any law. This includes posting of premium information from other web sites.
13. Do not give out your personal information on the forum. We are not responsible for any actions that occur as a result of you making the decision to divulge personal information such as your email address, phone number, address, etc. If you do, do so at your own risk.
14. No phishing. Do not attempt to get posters to reveal personal information such as email addresses. This can subject you to being banned.
15. Terms of use. You can read ESPN's Terms of Service for subscribers here -

I was looking on recruit profiles today and they have REALLY beefed them up. They are going after the $$$!

I know. Pretty much the same info, but the graphics are much more slick. The first time I saw it, it kind of threw me off.
