Sounds like the kid is absolutely blowing up on the summer circuit. Everything on the offer list except for Nebraska & Oklahoma (which Rivals has) comes from this article, so I don't know if the recruiting sites are behind a bit or if HighSchoolHoop.com is wrong.

Nice article from CBS:

LAS VEGAS — If Buddy Hield keeps shooting the way he has this month, he’ll no longer just be a secret Big 12 schools know about.

Some perspective on Hield’s past five weeks. Until recently, he was targeted by Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Utah, Clemson, Boston College and Wichita State. Good, right? A lot of it was fringe interest, from what I gather.

Some schools had more interest than others, but that was before the ever-crucial July period began. Since then (read: since he had a surprisingly strong showing with the Kansas Pray and Play Players in Indianapolis earlier this month), Memphis, Baylor, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Oregon State have dropped in.

Why is that, Nik?

Because football is what moves the revenue needle. Other than for a handful of programs, it's unlikely that the front page focus of a Rivals or Scout site is going to be a basketball article, basketball schedule and basketball commits except for the brief period between football's signing day in February and basketball's March post-season. If you look at the main Rivals or Scout message board, it's dominated by football discussions except for that period, too. They're just focusing on what their customers want.

Rivals must be in the process of an update for hoops. Between the time you posted and now, he's up to a 4* and the #95 player in the nation. We're going to need to go through the database and get players updated this weekend since pretty much every site does an end of the month update on ratings/rankings.

He's money from DEEP. He has a silky sweet J, and can hit them from deep. I really plan to catch a few game around the city (Wichita) this year, just to see the talent we have coming out of Wichita play. Sunrise is starting to make a name for themselves with having some really really strong players. I hope to catch just one of their games this year, and I also hope to catch North vs Heights play, because I'll get to see Connor Frankamp (Jr who already signed with KU) for North, play against Heights which has Perry Ellis and Gavin Thurman. The potential to see 3 big time D-1, possibly NBA potential players in one high school game doesn't come by often, especially in Wichita. We haven't been known to put out very good hoops talent in the last 20ish years. The last big time recruit to come out of Wichita was probably Mo Evans who signed with WSU, but then transferred to Texas, and then has made a nice career playing as the 6th man on lots of teams in the NBA.

Back to Hield though. He plays AAU ball for Pray and Play Players which is a local Kansas team which is headlined by Perry Ellis. They are a really good AAU team and always play in the best tournaments, and that is where Buddy has showcased his talents this summer. When the July evaluation period hit, his name was all over the web, all the recruiting analysts, bloggers, you name it, were writing about him. And it was always "who is this kid draining 3's?" I think not only should he be a bit higher ranked in the top 150, but he should higher ranked amongst the SG's, and honestly should be top 10 in pure outside shooters in his class. He's really going to be quite the threat. Whoever gets him, will have 4 years of great offensive production.

Everyone needs to rep this man.

I could be an honorary Buff or something I think. Come drink a few brews, catch a game with you gents, and mysteriously vanish when the bat signal goes off. What say ye?

You're more than welcome. We can start with you cheering for unless we're playing Wichita State or on selection Sunday when we're both on the bubble. We'll work on you from there until all "shocker" means to you is a vague memory of something you did to a high school girlfriend.

I see that you guys updated the top post, but just mentioning that Rivals made him the #95 player in the country just yesterday. I was talking 150 out of not looking like a schmuck and over hyping the kid, but top 100 is great for him and for Sunrise.

We could really use a guy who can light it up from outside. We're developing a very solid frontcourt. Add in a guy or two who can hit some shots from outside, and this becomes a very, very solid basketball team.

Question. It's been a few years since he played there but with his KU name recognition and his time with Wichita State does Tad get into some Kansas High Schools that other guys don't.

Not a huge state for HS talent but they put out a few, we could sure use a guy like Heild

I don't know if he has any "ins" at any school, at least around Wichita, but I'm sure he's pretty familiar with a few of the coaches considering he lived here in town for a bit.

He's not just a good shooter. He's a hell of a player overall.

Oh, and we don't want Johnson to be lonely on his visit, so Hield will be visiting this weekend as well.

Not sure about that BCS.

BTW, updated his offer list. He's also now the #17 SG in the nation and #94 overall according to Rivals.

WANT!!!!! can they go to the rocky mountain showdown or would that be a violation?

All entertainment during an official visit must occur within 30 miles of the campus. Section D.2.

Mile High is under 30 miles from the CU-Boulder campus. We could bring basketball recruits to the game if we chose to do so.

Rivals article on Hield from last week:
"My recruitment is still open until Sept. 16, when I make my decision to my final four or five," he said. "Everybody still is free to jump in. I haven't leaned to anyone yet. Everything is still open."

Hopefully his recruitment is open until September 16th because that's the day he sees the Flatirons and commits to the Buffs.
