He doesn't want to play Notre Dame every game next season?

I hate UTerous. they can keep 'em
He adds instant depth to our QB position but I am a little concerned with him being 3rd string while tied with a freshman. Other school in question was Tennessee but don't see him going there with Bray there already. I just hope this doesn't cause any backfire with Dillon.

Texas QB Connor wood Transferring to CU?

tz posted something on twitter about him visiting boulder today

Texas Longhorns QB Connor Wood is apparently transferring, heard he's in Boulder today visiting the #Buffs. Would be a HUGE get. #gobuffs

oops should have been question marks

Is he leaving UT - like right now??

If he did, it would be a good time. He could leave and sit out the 2011 season, and be eligible for the 2012 season as a redshirt junior. (He is a redshirt freshman right now)

exactly - I've become really high on Dillon since the Elite 11 camp...I can't wait for that kid to come to CU. We could use some depth I guess, but I'm not sure if adding this kid really adds anything...

What's the story with this kid? Was he highly recruited out of high school? Big kid, small kid? I know he chose UT so he must have been given the obligatory 4 or 5 star treatment from the recruiting sites, but is he really that good?

Depth, which is needed badly at the QB position.

if he can't beat out the current turnover machine UT QB how good can he be? looks like a depth pickup but I wish him well.

If Dillon is concerned about us adding a transfer for depth, that would be disappointing.

I don't know for sure, but I would assume Dillon has been offered the chance to compete for a starting job as a true freshman, but no guarantee. Assuming Wood transfers in now (is that even possible?) and redshirts in 2011, we would start 2012 with a red shirt junior, a red shirt sophomore, a red shirt frosh, and a true frosh competing to take over for Hansen. To me, that's good. Embree's all about competition and the best guy playing, so if Dillon is ready, he'd start. If not, we've got two or three (hopefully) capable alternatives to start 2012 while Dillon red shirts -- and I think a red shirt is not out of the question just for the sheer fact that Dillon might benefit from a year in the weight room.

Behind Hansen we have zero people who've been tested. Shrock looked good in camp and Hirschman is supposed to be decent but having a JR transfer to compete with them while Dillon is a true frosh is just fine.

I know, but even if he was transferring from Baylor or nebraska, I'd offer redemption and kill the fatted calf (and roast a pig). We all make mistakes...

Exactly. I'm not sure anyone has a problem rooting for Rippy because he was committed to Nebraska for a while. At least I hope not. And I sure as hell would welcome Thurston with open arms if he flipped to us (or Kenny Bell if he wanted to transfer).

This. Lots of people here are concerned that we aren't pulling in a blue chip QB every year. Well, here is our best shot to fix the mistakes made by the last staff at the QB position and get another blue chip QB to plug in to the depth chart. Would love to have this kid.

Also agree with WSP that Dillon could use a redshirt year spent in the weightroom, the playbook, the training table and a number of sorority girls.

To clarify, Wood redshirted last year and is in the same class as Hirschman. They would both be RS-Sophs in 2012. If Dillon did not win the job for 2012, he'd redshirt and then sit behind an incumbent starter for two years. But if he's as good as I think, he might win the job anyway and would certainly be one snap away for those two years with the job almost certainly being his for two.

Solid pro-style prospect from a private school that some thought was given the redshirt last year to develop and take over if GG struggled again and he'd have 4 years. Versus playing of little McCoy as the backup last year. With Ash coming in and Brewer next year the deck looked stacked against Wood and his scrimmage participation in August sealed it. Big school to big school QB transfers can run the spectrum of Cam Newton to Mitch Mustain but I hope neither Wood nor Dillon are expecting anything less than to full out grind to earn a starting job, wherever they sign. I welcome a fair competition to determine the best of the best.

It can't be understated how invested Mack Brown is in Garret Gilbert. I don't think the other QB's are getting a chance to start.
