OU President Boren on what Boomer's thinking

It's a very interesting interview.

I thought this part screamed, "Pac-12 here we come!":

“If I start discussing too much detail, I’d compromise. We obviously want stability in our conference relationships. We want partners that are above outstanding, both athletically and academically. A conference that’s strong is not only stable, but it’s one in which there are multiple relationships, along with sports, between university members."

“I hoped we had stability. I guess I’m just disappointed that the original Big 12 is not the same Big 12. I was extremely disappointed when Nebraska departed. I was disappointed when Colorado departed.

Fu@k OU! I don't want them in PAC anymore:finger:

Or the Big 10, given the report that OU reportedly led a foursome of former Big 8 schools to inquire with them. But yeah doesn't sound all that encouraging for those of us that want things to stay at 12. The Big 12 made a tactical error by not moving immediately to 12 last year.

Nebraska was OU's main rival in the Big 8.

Sorry. I don't know what got into me. Making excuses for the slight was inexcusable. **** Boren and **** Oklahoma!

During ESPN's pregame for Baylor/TCU, they just reported that OU's President said he'd announce their plans within 3 weeks.

I'm all for OU and yes, UT, joining the Pac eventually. If the Pac really wants to be considered one of the premier football conferences then they need more traditional football powers. OU and especially UT would bring alot of clout to the table when it comes to renegotiating a TV contract.

Totally agree

I'm ok with OU. And I hate OU historically. OU will bring that traditional football power. Then we have USC, Washington and us who have won national championships. Who the hell needs Texas?

I would be okay with OU and Kansas to start, but really don't want OSU in here for some reason.

I think OSU brings so much more to the table than KU does, aside from the fact that they may be hitched to OU.

My whole family went to OU. I'd rather we not play OU all the damn time because win or loose it's a pain in the asa dealing with my family everytime.

what does OSU really bring?

good fan base? nope they had trouble selling football tickets just a few years ago
near a major tv market? nope, OU dominates the tvs in that state in either Tulsa or OKC
AAU? try again

they only thing they bring is Pickens and I really don't want that asshole throwing his money around so we have to have a PAC 12 championship game in ****ing Kansas City.

How's Pickens any different than Knight and Oregon? And OSU would bring football clout to a conference that could use it if they truly want to be on par with the Big 10 and SEC. KU is a nobody in college football other than that once-in-50-years flash in the pan they had a few years ago.

Unless OSU joins aTm in the SEC. I think they want Missouri, though.

That would be a good scenario. I just don't see it happening.

I'm really really glad that CU isn't tied to another school like OU is to OSU, KU is to KSU, Tech potentially is to Texas. Could you imagine if we had to bring CSU along with us everywhere?

They are, but OSU is more than likely part of the deal. Don't take OSU, OU goes elsewhere.

I guess I don't understand what is in this for OU. If they get an invite from the PAC:12, do you really think they are gonna say nope, not unless you take our little brother over there? At some point they are going to do what is best for them.
