Bakhtiari out for extended time?

Was wondering if anyone had heard anything. Was the Hawaii D-line really good or is the CU O-line really bad or is it someplace in the middle?

Embree will probably let everyone know the status of Bakhtiari and anyone else who is dinged up, at his presser tomorrow.

I noticed Dannewitz on the field, but missed Bak going out. What happened?

Knee sprain is the initial prognosis I believe. This might partially explain the poor o-line play because we lost our starting left tackle in the first quarter, and Bakhtiari was our top returning lineman based on how he graded out last year and is playing at the most critical position on the line.

Man, big difference between him and his eventual replacement Dannewitz and even Jack Harris on the right side. Those two both had nightmare games from what I saw rewatching it. Hopefully Bakhtiari can get healthy and back out on the field soon. We need him.

If i'm Embree, i'm taking a comprehensive look at the OL along with how Asiata looks in practice. If Harris doesn't get better, we might have to consider Ryan Miller on the outside, Asiata sliding in at RG. Harris had probably the worst game of the starters. No movement and failed to seal corners on outside running plays and his pass blocking was just play terrible between play action plays to drop back passes. I don't know if he was nervous or just thinking too much but he had a lot of mental error plays IMO. Physically I think has the ability but a wise to go mentally.

Moving forward to this week, Cal runs the same 3-4 that we do, and UH does so there shouldn't be any surprises as to what we'll see. If Bakhtiari is out, which, most-likely he will be, I'd look for CU run a bunch of ACE formation incorporating max blocking, or at least getting the TE's to chip the OLB's to help the OT's get in better position.

If he's out for a few weeks, I think we need to consider moving Miller to tackle. I hate to do that to him again, but I'd rather have Miller at tackle and Asiata at guard than Dannewitz at tackle and Miller at guard.

Asiata is gonna have every chance to get playing time this week... But where? Lt or lg?

Like niks idea and move Miller to tackle. I dont know who else we have thats ready. Crabb? Tau has been here for 20 years and not really played so dont know if he's an option. Asiata might have to play and he might do well from the beginning. Any freshman is gonna make mistakes, just gotta work through it.

Embree and marshall need to nip this in the bud NOW. We can't have bad OL play period. Miller can tweet all he wants, he's been the most overrated og in the history of CU. Man up and block someone and keep these ****ers off your qb. WAKE THE **** UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm usually fairly quiet around here, but I couldn't agree more syko. I'm tired of the o-line talking smack all week then falling on their @ss on Saturday. Maybe they need to stop tweeting and start looking at film.

Cal ate up Solder last year with a speed rush. I don't think Miller can be effective at left tackle for this game. Too slow laterally. Maybe a TE to shore up the left side. If the run game can be established, things would be a whole lot simpler. And yeah, Miller should stop tweeting and start dominating his opponent.

MTM is done forever. That, and the senior center who quit in the offseason, has hurt what the OL could be this year. Hard to beleive that we have so little quality depth...I thought that th OL was the best place the hawkins had recruited.

What about MTM? Is he still on the team? I thought he was supposed to be healthy by now

Max is still around the team and rehabbing. He's officially on a special dispensation scholarship and done with sports due to injury. There's a small glimmer of hope that he could try to return next year, but it's not something anyone should count on. At this point I'm just hoping he gets his CU degree. If he somehow makes it back to the field, then that will be unexpected allsomeness.

A reputable poster on Rivals is saying Asiata isn't ready for PT. He wants to see him RS this year. I also heard Crabb's name come up along with Tau's. I wonder how well Tau could do at G.

MTM has beat his knees up so bad that as much as I would love to see him play for the Buffs what I really hope for is that he is able to rehab them enough to have a somewhat normal life.

Was it Maximus? If so, he's basing it on technique and I don't know how much he has really scouted him. He usually has good insight, but in this case it seems like he's going off a photo of Asiata pass blocking.

Is speaking from winning this year, or building the program for the future?
