1)Hanson was injured last year.
2)His injury was pretty serious as you only have one spleen.
3)His parents are concerned and don't want him running the ball.
4)We have nothing behind him on the depth chart due to previous circumstances so the coaches are worried about injury as well.
5)We're trying to run a pro style offense.
6)Pro style offenses do not want the quarterback running the ball.
7)Hansen is instructed to make a pass and avoid running during each practice leading up to the season..
8)Hansen embraces this philosophy as he's a smart guy(he ****ing ruptured his spleen last year) and he does as is instructed.
9)Once a game rolls around, Hansen is a 1 dimensional quarterback so our offense suffers.
10)And our defense is completely oblivious to the threat of a running QB because they haven't seen it at all in practice.

1. Hansen just isn't very good.
2. The rest of the team isn't good enough to win games with an average QB playing average.

That's it.

You don't need a spleen. My sister had hers removed when she was young.

Good thing Cal has a weak defense and Derek Carr had all night to pick them apart :smile2:

Pretty much spot on. The one thing that could overcome mediocre QB play would be a dominant OL. That group must come around in order to give us a chance.

mediocre QB's can do some things with a good line. Our line flat out sucks. That is our biggest problem right now.

1) (a.) the left side of our o-line + center should be redshirted immediately. Lt may not have had one good snap in the entire game.

fify.

I feel sorry for Ryan Miller. That guy could be Will Sheilds and still look like he is getting beat. The talent around him on the o-line is pretty depressing. Those guys got owned up front all day. I hate to call out any players in particular but the LT is not physically ready to play at this level. He may be in a year or two but right now he looked scared and tentative all day. Hopefully he can work through it and have an "epiphany" moment where it all starts to become instinctive. Otherwise, Hansen is going to get killed this year.

Wyo - you may have missed it (I did while watching live), but our LT Bakhtiari went down with a sprained knee in the first quarter. That was 4th year junior Dannewitz who was getting owned. It wasn't so much a youth issue as it was a problem with our depth.
