Flipped over to see a bit of this game.

Washington is playing kNU at least even. 20-17 corn but shouldn't be, Washington is getting jobbed by the refs. End of the first half Washington punts, the kNU returner stumbles as we calls the fair catch and the ball comes off his leg. Nobody from UW touched him but the refs called interfearance and gave the ball back to the corn plus a penalty, corn kicks a FG which is the difference so far.

Coming out for the second half UW misses on a long pass as the reciever is held but no call, instead on the punt the returner doesn't call for a FC the ball gets to him and almost immediately but cleanly he is hit, flag again.

Wonder if the official is a kNU alum.

Game changed pretty quickly when that returner fumbled at the one.

Suddenly a 20-point game.

A team has to be good enough to not only beat the other team, but also beat the officials. Unfortunately, the officials are a part of every game we watch.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the game was not officiated well.

Having said that... it is hard to win in Lincoln and the 'Dawgs didn't get it done today. Their D is still way too soft. The only good news is that 2/3 of this team will still be playing in two years, and the offense looks potentially explosive if the players stay healthy...

They definately have some good players on that team. By the end of the year, if they stay healthy and get things squared away, they'll be a pretty decent team. I was impressed with their QB, but their defense wasn't very good. Having said that, neither was ours, big step down on the defensive side of the ball this season. Especially in the secondary, but the team is very young when you start looking at the depth chart.

Except for a breakdown in the 3rd, and a couple of big plays, I thought UDUB looked pretty good. Especially on the road in lincoln. That's a future/returning Pac powerhouse, in my opinion.

The huskers--though mostly impressive on the field--looked looked like a bunch of dicks, eating dicks that were eating bags of dicks. And that's just the crowd.

Geesh! You ever been to a game in Lincoln? Or for that matter even watch one of Nebraska's games? UDUB is going to be a great team. The Refs made a call that was questionable, the other was correct. Watch the replay.

The Washington fans are good people based upon the ones I met. Treat them to a good time when they come to Boulder.

Hate to call you out because generally you are balanced. Don't be a dick just to be one.

BTW! Congrats on the Buff win. It sounds like the team made some strides.

1. I have been to a game in lincoln.

2. Which call was questionable and which was correct? I have no idea which plays you're discussing. The call that was unfortunate, in my opinion, was the punt that Dub snagged and returned for a touchdown that was called back.

3. Fair enough on the "dick for the sake of being a dick". I just wanted folks to know that I wasn't going soft on my dislike for everything husker. Also, huskermark has been making me feel a bit less warm toward nebraska lately.

4. And in fairness, this is our chat site. Obviously you're welcome here, and we appreciate that you're a paying member. But hating nebraska is what we're supposed to do here.

5. I tend to believe that we treat most visiting fans well in Boulder. I know our reputation is different in lincoln, but the Cal fans seemed to have a good time.

A call that was questionable, how about a couple of calls that were flat out wrong that changed the entire game. By the way not just my opinion, I happened upon the endless rehash on 880am about 2 hours after the game was over and the commentators who are typical Husker brown nose homers admitted that both calls on punt interfearance were wrong, something which is backed up by watching the replays on anything other than a red tinted screen.

If you want to talk about "questionable calls" you could talk about a couple of PI calls against UW or the lack of a couple of roughing the passer calls but there was nothing questionable about the calls on the punt coverage, they were flat out wrong. But of course Fusker eyes would never admit that.

Another noted, even if UW was awarded the ball for recovering the fumble, it would not have been a TD. In that situation the ball is by rule down at the spot of recovery. It would have been their ball in the redzone, but it would not have been an automatic TD. I can only assume the refs thought that a UW defender tripped the return guy when he was in reality tripped by his own teammate. There was not a UW defender within 2-3 yards of the returner prior to the touch so I'm not clear where the penalty was.

It's also my understanding that a punt returner who does not signal a fair catch does not get a halo. Am I wrong on my interpretation of that? If they signal a fair catch they get a halo, if they return the ball (no fair catch) there is no halo. Another call where I still don't see where the penalty arose on Trufant's hit.

Again, some ugly calls, but UW still could have played better. They let momentum gets sucked out and that led to a horrible botched return by the true Freshman Sankey giving Nebraska a gimme TD. Game over at that point. Surprised UW closed to 13 to cover the spread...

You are correct that it would not have been a TD, it is a muff and UW would have had the ball at the spot of the recovery. I would assume that with that field position they would have at least scored a FG, instead kNU scored and entered the half with the lead.

In college football there is no longer a halo rule. The returner is fair game the moment he touches the ball, on the first play before the half replay clearly shows that the UW coverage man did not touch the returner and was past him when the ball came down. At the start of the second half the hit shows clearly on replay to be after the returner touched the ball (he in fact caught the ball) but the penalty changed field position significantly.
