OU regents authorize Boren to act on realignment (was: link to OU's BOR meeting)

Is that the actual meeting or just the media waiting outside? I have no audio.

That is the media waiting in that room. The red chairs are for the regents.

This is taking over a hour longer than it was supposed to. This could be pretty good news if it has to take that long.

Follow @johnehoover who follows OU at the Tulsa World. Latest tweet says the exec. session is now at 1 hour and 30 mins.

Boren: "have had informal conversations w/ P12. Those conversations have been warm, constructive."

i get the need for collapsing and renaming threads, but it's awfully confusing at times and gets unwieldy imo when they get to be 12 page threads. jmo.

What do you propose then? Open a new thread when the OU regents have made a decision although we already have a thread on the topic?

We´ve talked about an all-in-one thread, but ultimately decided against it as it´d be even more chaotic.

RT @Jake_Trotter: Boren said pods can make superconferences work

RT @Jake_Trotter: Boren says threatening litigation no way to keep a conference together

i think that one could read/post topically in the OU thread without having to rename it....every time there is a new development. it also feels kind of mod heavy....if a poster starts and names a post, it's the poster's content imo. not just fodder to be airbrushed by a mod. we had a few posts a few months ago where mods were editing regular AB'ers posts and not for censor reasons. that's not right. that's not for the fans, by the fans. my post should stay my post....not a place for a mod to come in and comment or this or that. i feel that's true about the subject line, too, unless there's a misspell and/or for some other reason the poster asks a mod to edit.

anyone i like the mods and such...but, for the fans by the fans is egalitarian. mods editing posts is pretty non-egalitarian. that's just what i think.

Boren in short: 2 options - P12 or B12 - not happy with the threat of a lawsuit, not happy with LHN ... something´s gonna happen sooner rather than later

This response requires a poll and a new thread.

I think of it as a service to the rest of the board when there´s a new development to let people know with one look. With the edited subject line they quickly see there´s a new development whereas otherwise they don´t and the was (was: ....) line makes it very clear the subject line was edited as there´s a new development.

I see it as a service to notify people of developments more than anything. People who may not have the time to read the full thread or check whata new post says all the time.

Mick, I hear you. The compromise we're trying is to put the former thread title in parentheses. We are trying to avoid having to create a "Conference Realignment" forum to avoid cluttering the football forum with so many thread on this stuff.

To me, the best thing about it is that with the way this board can wander off topic in pretty much any thread, there can be threads that I quit reading after a while because it seemed like it turned into a different discussion. With the thread title changes I know there's developments in the actual topic of the thread.

I understand what Mick's saying, and I definitely sympathize with the idea of less moderation, but I guess a thread title like "link to OU BOR meeting" doesn't strike me as something that most people are going to feel overly protective of...
