Interesting, but hard to get accurate. No way does Clemson have more fans than Georgia and South Carolina, and certainly no way does Boston College have more fans than Florida State, Virginia and NCSU

They freely acknowledge their formula isn´t perfect, but I figured it´d be good for a few replies.

According to that, Iowa State, Indiana, Purdue, and Duke all have more fans than CU. I call bull****.

Baylor ranked 85th. But, but, but they are supposed to be a top 20 program that any conference would be lucky to have.

The science isnt solid behind this, but it gives a decent snapshot. For those of you outside the state of TX, look where UH(ouston) ranked. This is why they are not being considered in expansion talks. They're in a prime location, but they're still a commuter school with little going for them other than possibility.

Edit to add - Buffnik, I figured you would see this and I could let the other thread fall behind and still tell you thanks for being friendly and open to discussion.

Texas has to be number one, this survey is flawed. They are the best at everything. And 100% of texas residents are college football fans. The rest are illegals.

this survey is very suspect. They show CSU as having 199,506 when they obviously left off the decimal point and it should be 1995.06 fans.

I agree that the list showing number of fans for each school doesn't look very accurate, but the first showing the percentage of people in certain markets that watch college football seems pretty believable. It brings out the point that in most pro-sports cities the percentage of people that follow college football is roughly 25% with Atlanta being an exception.

Knock, knock, knock.

Carolina Buff answers the door to find some fat sweaty dude from Birmingham that would like to have a word with him.

You clearly know nothing about football in the state of Alabama.

I fully understand college football in that state. My point is that I was referring to all the other "big-time, major league" cities on that list, and Birmingham is not in the category of "big-time, major-league" cities.

Dude.

But sorry to draw attention from your point, because it was a good one. Cities that have professional options are less inclined to follow college football, according to this data.
