**** 'em. Don't care about Texas, don't gotta.

Drought, Fire, Rick Perry and conference denial. Just ain't Texas' millenium....

Texas has never wavered in its hopes to keep the Big 12 afloat, but is equally determined to keep its lucrative Longhorn Network.

You mean the bull**** network that no one is watching because you can't find anyone to carry it? That lucrative network?

Strong work, UT.

glorious discussion of how Boulder is not worth anything unless its the winter...

I saw that, but he got called out by his own. I also like that they are saying the Pac 12 lost in the expansion game, because they only added CU and UU. Apparently they are going to gloss over the $30 mil a team that also went down.

LMAO at uterus. Overplayed their hand...badly. Set up their silly network, only to find out nobody wants it...or at least they aren't willing to pay what ESPiN is charging. Said network prevents uterus from getting into another conference, now that everyone who has an alternative has left (NU, CU and Aggie), or is trying to leave (OU and MU).

Uterus asks Pac 12, "No thank you", uterus makes overture to ACC, "no thank you" "oh and we'll snag two of the schools you wanted to expand your dying conference while we're at it". Uterus can't get the Big10/12 to return their calls and the SEC has always hated uterus. Besides, uterus is scared of the SEC anyway.

Who is the big winner? Bailer. They get to keep riding Bevo's coattails and pretend they matter. ISU, KjSU, KU (has GT stopped scoring yet?) and the Sand Aggies all breathe a collective sigh of relief as they no longer have to contemplate life in the imploding Big LEast, MWC or C-USA.

The MWC, a day late and a dollar short now tries to form a superconference of also rans stretching from Hawaiii to Carolina, yeah that will work...probably as good as the expanded WAC did.

And Ralphie reclines leisurely in P12 land, waiting for the checks to arrive.....

Texas saves the Big 12 again, everyone in that conference should be thankful that Texas is protecting the greater good of the conference. I fact, Iowa St, Kansas St, Kansas, and Baylor should probably volunteer to give up a greater piece of their revenue to UT to thank them for their efforts.

Unless I'm mistaken, tu couldn't care less about who subscribes to the network from a financial perspective, correct? They get their money from ESPN, who sells the channel to providers. The contract with ESPN is a set dollars/year kind of contract, which pays tu the same amount per year regardless, correct?

They may be concerned about the exposure if no one can get the LHN, but monetarily it makes no difference, right?

UT cares from a branding standpoint. They want UT to be the premier public school in the nation. the LHN, if widely disseminated, is gonna help do that. They really don't even need the $. But if the LHN is minimized nationally, which it is likely to be since it has NO content, then they are much more likely to come around.

On shaggy, guys were expecting the same path for the LHN as the B1G network. Which is ridiculous, since the B1G has a whole conference of content to draw on while the LHN has... TWO FOOTBALL GAMES. And as DirecTV said... thats not a network.

In a sense, yes, but they have taken a gigantic PR hit from this, and are rightly seen as money grubbing, self interested a-holes who are a cancer to any conference they are in. And while they aren't "on the hook" as far as risk goes, they don't really see the big pay day until ESPiN recoups it's costs. So uterus dioes need the LHN to be successful to see any real $$ out of the deal. In other words, UT is not getting first dollar revenue out of this contract.

I believe espn/abc has had texas on for all 3 weeks so far so they will work to put them on one way or another.

I still dont' have Longhorn Network, and I want it.

ESPN wants Time Warner to charge all customers 40 center per month to make it part of standard cable for all customers. Time Warner wants to make it part of a $5 a month or so "sports pack." Neither side is caving.

Isn't Time Warner still telling the NFL network to eff off? GL LHN

Why would anyone want it on their standard package?Charge your customers more for a channel none of them will watch? That's a smart business model. Then again, QVC is on basic cable, isn't it?

Y'know what would be a smart move? Someone should make the cable companies partners in their network, then there wouldn't be this adversarial relationship between the network and the cable companies. That person could be assured that his network would be widely distributed by his cable company partners. Sounds crazy, I know, but it just might work.

I'm so glad they endorse their endless 100+ degree summers as the place to be. Please stay there.

Anyone who spends any time in the high country in summers knows full well it's chock full of Texans. Especially the southern and southwest parts of the state.
