Katie has ruled us out and will be deciding between Duke, Gonzaga, NCSU, UCLA and Vanderbilt. Reportedly Stanford is making a late push.

BTW, Katie has a great family and support system around her. She's going to do great wherever she goes. Best of luck Katie!

OK, good luck to her. But I'm getting sick of the top Colorado HS girls going to Duke, UConn, etc. Pisses me off. I think we have worse luck with girl's in state bballers than any other men's or women's sport. This is a general sentiment and not directed at this young lady.

I've been meaning to reply to this for the last few weeks and just keep forgetting. One thing you have to consider is that CU hasn't had a season in which they won more than 20 games since 2003-04. That's when these young ladies were 10. They basically grew up thinking of CU as a "middle of the road" program, and that's if we're lucky because there were some REALLY bad years thrown in there. Meanwhile, UConn, Duke, etc. are appearing on national TV numerous times a year and appearing in Final Fours right and left. They have sent numerous women to the WNBA whereas we've only been able to send three.

I have complete confidence that Lappe is going to get us back to the Ceal Barry days, but I'm honestly not sure if I can get angry at a local girl who wants to go to Duke or UConn right now.

In 3 years however, I expect the border to be closed.

I'm not angry. Just think they are taking the easy road in a way. Why not be a leader and make a difference in your home state? WBB is way too top heavy. Go somewhere where you can make a difference instead of being just another player on an all star team. I get disappointed when any star HS player from Colorado, whether it be football, basketball, whatever, goes out of state. Their parents, obviously, did a poor job raising them,

The depth just isn't there yet in the women's game. It's getting better every year but still has a ways to go to get to where upsets can become common during March Madness. If you look at where the top 100 HS girls are going, they are more spread out now than, say, 5 years ago but still concentrated in the handful of teams considered to have a real shot at the NCAA championship in the immediate future. Last years finalist, Notre Dame, and champion, Texas A&M are really benefitting in their 2012 verbals. In the prelim class rankings done in August, their recruiting classes rank #3 and #2 respectively, behind UConn. There still are many WBB players not ready to take on the challenge of being part of building up a program rather than maintaining a program. Fortunately Lappe and staff seem to have found a couple that want to be part of the building process.
