Texas A&M officially admitted to SEC

Hopefully Mizzou.

the big XII remainder need badly for MU to stay imo. and MU has always wanted to be the pretty girl at the dance. i doubt OU and Texas will let them in the "in crowd" but maybe ought to. funny how Kansas is a non-issue in all this. AAU member, one of the top hoops programs of all time....etc. doesn't matter.

even Texas Tech has more pull than KU. that must suck.

 and

**** tejas. Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

So who will be next for the $EC?

Big XII is saying all the right things about being stabilized for now, and the ACC has made it hellaexpensive to get out of the conference. The $EC might have to hold their noses and give West Virginia a call....

I know -- that's exactly why I want Mizzou to head to the SEC. I want the Big 12 to completely fall apart, or resort to adding SMU, Rice, Houston, etc. to keep the league together.

So, when does Baylor file its law suit. Did Scott play the "not expanding" card in order to avoid a law suit? Now that the cards are falling, he will probably be able to admit the 4 without the danger of losing a law suit. I think he knew that once aTm went to the SEC, the former Big XII would fall leaving those left behind with no basis for a suit.

If the ACC schools ($20 million penalty) are out, the Big 12 (loss of TV rights for 6 years) schools are out, and the "not-in-current-states" rule is in place, that leaves West Virginia, Cincinnati, East Carolina, and maybe Houston and TCU (if the rule doesn't apply to Texas A&M just yet).

West Virginia and TCU are clearly the best of that bunch. WVU balances the divisions, adds a new state, draws close to 60,000 per game in football, 12,000 in basketball, and brings a solid overall AD to the table. TCU complicates the division split, adds greater exposure into a large market (DFW), draws 40,000 per game in football but probably can pitch access to JerryWorld for big home games, aside from football they bring a top-notch baseball program to the division.

I was pretty surprised that the Mountaineers were reported as being "rejected" for the 14th team by the SEC.

I do not seriously think TCU is a legit SEC candidate. They do provide some good things, however, and seem to "fit" culturally. I just don't seem them truly being able to contend in the SEC and if they weren't contending the fanbase would go back to being non-existant. However, they have been able to leverage GP's success into some pretty impressive fundraiser drives for facilities upgrades.

and the soap opera continues. This is like herpes, it is the gift that keeps on giving.

Missouri is now the program that "everything hinges on". Their Board of Curators seem to be the only holdup for the Big 12's new TV rights grant to the conference. It seems that all of the other Big 12 Presidents have voted in favor of that, but Mizzou doesn't have an acting president and the vote goes to the Curators.

I don't see anything among the current Board that seems like they would lean towards an SEC offer over keeping the Big 12 intact, other than the past Big 12 "mistreatment" of Mizzou. In fact, some of the power players on the Board have strong ties to Kansas City businesses and the Missouri-Kansas rivalry would certainly come to bear. If keeping that game as a neutral site, out-of-conference game could pass with both schools then maybe I could see them considering the SEC offer. I could see Missouri-Arkansas being a very good SEC rivalry (The Battle of the Ozarks?) but if that was important enough they could make that an OOC game, or alternate between that and Illinois as OOC.

But, Mizzou thinks they are Big Ten worthy and value academic research, and there isn't a school in the Big Ten that would choose to be associated with the SEC. The current Big 12 with UT, KU, Iowa State, and Baylor isn't too far ahead of the SEC with Florida, Vandy, and A&M but they are a more similar group to Missouri.

Kansas campus is only 20 minutes from KC and well over a million TV audience. Lubbock is in the middle of nowhere.

Are they still felating themselves over on Shaggybevo? I'm sure they think this is just a bump in the road.

Not sure how accurate -- haven't been able to find the info -- but a boomer fan here at work said that when the Benign conference signed the new Fox deal this year, it set bailer in motion. To the tune of about $100mil for AD improvements. They basically borrowed against what they stood to earn from tv rights for the next ~10 years.

As I said, I have yet to find something that confirms this. However, if true, expect them to be very proactive on the legal front if any more teams state they plan to leave the conference.

The irony in all this is (if rumor = true) -- prominent bailer grads who are supposedly successful in business, etc., take out full-page ads prior to the last round of conference-remainder-entity meetings. The ads try to point out the economic impact of teams leaving the conference. Really? Perhaps these uber-grads should be advising the bailer AD on how to run a business instead of trying to influence people in other cities.

Just thought I would drop this off on an SEC thread. Bama is good this year.

does it bug you that you have one of the best teams in the country, but aren't even the best team in your conference?

i kid.

'bama looks really good this year. along with lsu and ou, bama is a favorite to win the nc for sure.

Wow. Based on that picture, Bama can't even sell out a battle between two top 25 teams in a year when they are running for a national championship. Pathetic.

There was some discussion here a week or two ago about ISU doing that. $40 million for new video boards and such, and they were going to be SOL if the Big XII-II-I TV deal dried up...

Based on your analysis of a simple picture you are a dumbass. This was either right before halftime started or right after so folks may be gone to the concession stand because unlike our attendance and ticket sales the concession stands suck at BDS. The biggest factor is the top left endzone which I am sure you are referring to is part of the student section. The more popular part is the endzone on the field. They are general admission tickets and most students prefer to sit in the aisle or sit 25 on a 20 row then sit in the upper deck. I can assure you it was a sell out. The center of the picture is of the southeast ramp.

ALLSOME. You are one sensitive little bastard. I was being sarcastic.

I noticed you changed your tone once you got called out. I suggest you stick to what you know from now on.

Chuck, wouldn't you agree with me that LSU is extremely overrated this year?

PS: while you can't change your "tone" on a message board, you can change your font. Lucida Console: Live it. Learn it. Love it.
