Parking, traffic, security... WTF?

I usually try to arrive in Boulder at least an hour and half prior to kick and am usually at the stadium with a good hour to poke around and take in the experience.

Today, we pulled off of I36 at 12:15 due to crazy traffic after driving up from Parker. Traffic was even more nuts in Boulder today but we went up Broadway and tried to turn off and park in the lots by Kittridge which I could see had plenty of open spaces. They had some parking enforcer only allowing some cars to turn off into Regent. We were denied yet some cars ahead were allowed in and some behind us were allowed in. Ok, we proceed to the next entrance at 18th which I have parked at many times before and they told us all the spots were full even though I saw many open as we made the u turn to go to Basemar. Drove to Basemar and that lot was full. Finally found an open lot at the High School across Broadway.

Fine whatever, we finally parked and made the 10 minute walk over to Folsom where they are doing these half-ass security checks. What the hell is the point of checking my arm pits and shoulders for weapons and booze? These lines to get in the stadium are a disaster and take for ever. Do they even find anything on anyone here? The guy checking people actually asked the two girls in front of me if they had anything illegal on them and when they said no, he just let them pass. By the time we finally got into the game we missed the kick and the first minute or so and for what?

The game was fun today even though we lost in ugly fashion but the overall experience today was *****! By the time I sat in my seat I was pissed off and from what I saw I was not the only one thinking this.

Took us 20 minutes to get into the stadium. We were in line in time to see Ralphie run but didn't make it into the stadium until minutes had elapsed in the first quarter. And my dad snuck a flask into the stadium. And he got patted down. Yay, security theater! Like TSA, but ****tier!

that security line was bull****. I'm not a ****ing student anymore. WTF are they gonna find? ****ing Bohn needs to fix this.

Is it even legal to take your flask away if they find it? I mean if you are underage OK, but an adult? What about a knife? I know you can't concealed carry into large gatherings and anywone with a permit knows this but they aren't even checking places where I would carry.

You want them to check your asshole?

I had those problems too and I couldn't figure out why. Then I just remembered that it was parents weekend, so that could explain the extra cars on the road, in the lots/streets, and the clueless people entering the stadium. Let's just blame the parents.

I didn't appraciate the security BS either, my kids missed Ralphie running because of the BS pat downs. Way to make family weekend special Bohn, you moron.

Perhaps he should be told this. Maybe not the moron part, but it is a relevant point. If it takes EVERYONE 30 minutes to get into the stadium (a problem, btw, that the 102k+ at OSU don't seem to have) it makes the whole day a big deal ****tier.

I said it in another thread, but the delay in getting in was abnormal to me. Usually I can sneak in just a few minutes prior to kickoff at the main gates with little to no waiting.

Exactly. So Bohn or the AD better not come out and make the excuse that "we had a huge walk-up crowd", or "it was parents weekend", because 50K is nothing compared to all these big-time venues across the country.

Update on this:
Our game day entrance procedures are a little different due to national security guidelines that we follow. We apologize for the delay seeing the start of the game. We are asking fans to enter a little earlier to get in to see the entire game. Many are waiting until just before kick-off and we have a log jam of fans.

Basically, it is our fault.

I'll tell you this, I was frisked so well there is no way I'd have been able to sneak anything in. It made me feel very save at the game. :wink2:

So now the TSA is issuing guidelines to AD's. Stupid. I guess MB just does what he is told. IMO, that makes the game day environment pretty crappy. It doesn't make me want to go more, it makes me want to go less. Brilliant Mikey...

At least the NFL was savvy enough to tell their customers they would treated like suspects when they get to the stadium...like everything else MB is a day late and a dollar short.

More update: 9200 fans in the stadium at kickoff. Federally mandated "searches". **** YOU OSAMA, burn in hell. Beer in stadium so tailgaters don't have to rush is a good point.
