Russell Wilson

ncf_u_russellwilson_cmg_200.jpg

Senior transfer
Can play immediately with 1 year eligibility
Position: Quarterback

Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 201 lbs
Forty: 4.53 secs
Ratings out of HS: Rivals (2*-5.3 rating); Scout (2*; #67 QB)
College Performance: 2nd in NC State history in passing yards (12th in ACC history), 2nd Team All-ACC in 2010, Team Captain, Led ACC in passing yards per game and total offense, Led ACC and 7th in the nation in "points responsible for"

Question Marks: Is he committed to football since his career goal is baseball (current Rockies farmhand in Single A; chose spring training over spring football)? Would this mean Tyler redshirts this year or would he get screwed with a partial year controversy for the 4th year in a row?

Should CU be interested? Coming to Colorado is a natural for Wilson, given his baseball aspirations.

Damn the thing with the Rockies sets up pretty well for us, but I think they are committed to Tyler now.

Another 5'11" QB, no thanks.

Seriously unless the guy can make a major difference I am not that interested in any of these one year transfers. If he were a Manning maybe but otherwise lets focus on having a great year with Hansen and recruit and develop guys who will help us in the long term.

Nope.

People need to get over just automatically dismissing a QB based on height though.

I would take a pass on him. He would have to learn a new offense, get timing down with receivers he doesn't know and acclimate to Boulder. Since he only has one year, I think the scholarship would be best used for USC or tOSU or other transfers.

True, we wouldn't have much to gain from him for 1 year so a team closer to the upper echelon of college football would make more sense. But Paulus was in a somewhat similar situation and went to Syracuse for 1 year when they were still down, although he is from Syracuse so that one made alot more sense.

I've heard Tennessee and South Carolina mentioned as the most likely landing spots for Wilson, especially USC with Garcia's mess down there.

I'd think long and hard (twss) because we're a Hansen injury away from a QB problem (which means we have a QB problem).

Please ex-spleen yourself.

Your comment comes off a bit hirsh, man.

I disagree with not wanting him. Sure Tyler has been around a few years, but if we are committed to winning and can get a better option at QB, why not? If we had a better Freshman QB that Tyler, would you not want to start him?

We had 5 Scholarships available after spring ball. Poremba, Gray, Goldberg, Austin Vincent, Brundage were awarded scholarships And we still lack the required depth at WR , TE, DE. Signing Russell Wilson should be the last thing we should be doing.

He was pretty great at NC St. last year; I think it would be worth figuring something out with scholarships to get him.

Is that 5 available counting West and the other departures?

I think that he might not even be considered as a schollie since his contract with the Rockies likely includes them paying for his school and expenses, this is common with higher draft picks in baseball who have not completed school. If I am not mistaken Joel Klatt started out this way.

Even if it doesn't cost a scholly at this point I wonder if bringing in another guy would not be a distraction for a team that doesn't need one right now. Learning a whole new system and culture is hard enough without dealing with a QB controversy or the potential for a QB controversy.

I would rather take the RB from Georgia who is looking to transfer. I think that would be a much better pickup. Right now we have a heck of a recruit in a 4 star QB and we have a few other guys currently on the roster who are going to make for one heck of a QB battle next year. I do think we need some RB depth with our top 2 guys leaving after this season.

It's not like we actually had a shot at getting him but it's still funny to see people wrtie that they didn't want a guy who as of right now has a very good chance of winning the Heisman trophy. I'm sure Boulder Buff is just thrilled to be grouped together with bigbang.

I rarely agree with JRK1212, but I have to on this one. It's tough to say how much better we'd be with Wilson though. Wisconsin was already a top-25 team without him and he makes them top-5 good.

You've got every right to say "I told you so" on this one. Or at least you would if you had actually had an opinion before last night.

Instead, you're pretty much just saying "I'm a trolling little bitch"....

I don't know why I didn't comment in this thread but If I had the answer would have been a hell yes as it should have been for everyone who did comment. This isn't a hindsight is 20/20 type thing, everyone knew that Wilson was damn good prior to this season.

Super Troll!

first, I thought JRK had the ultimate burn. Then I realized he had never had an opinion in the threat. Then the awesome got out of control
