Texas junior QB Garrett Gilbert will transfer; he lost starting job after 2nd game of season

Sorry Gilbert Grape, we already got the better Texass transfer QB on the market this season.

Maybe you could go to CSU and study at the feet of Pete Thomas for a couple years. You may never see the field again, but imagine the absolute utter ****ing greatness you'll get to learn from...

Will be interesting to see where he lands, if he only has one year left to play and has to sit out a year it will take a special situation for someone to get excited about taking him. He might be better off going to an FCS school where he can play right away.

Would also be interesting if he does well where he transfers, Wood does well at CU, and UT struggles at the QB position.

He won the MNC with Vince Young but other than that Mac hasn't met the expectations held by a lot of Horns fans, will this add more heat to a fire.

I will always wonder what the **** Gilbert had on Mack such that Mack refused to consider anyone else for QB but him.

No offense Mtn, but have you watched Gilbert play? He is awful and got benched for two inexperienced guys who are playing better than he ever did. The guy is a bust, plain and simple.

agreed. He played well in the NC vs bama so I guess Mack gave him some leash. He was awful though last year.

Yes, no question he earned his way to the bench. A lot of Texas faithful were wondering how he got the starting job in the first place.

My comment was based on the idea that as bad as he is, he has a degree of talent. If he went to the right FCS program and lit it up against lower competition and UT struggles at the QB position along with Woods leaving, some of those people are getting a little tired of Mack Brown already. The fact that Gilbert sucked when he played for Texas would be ignored in favor of piling more on Mack Brown for those who would like to see a change.

To me, anything that makes Texas uncomfortable is a good thing.

He did admirable for his first game that wasn't mop-up duty and brought them close to a comeback against Bama but he also threw four picks in about three quarters' time, albeit with horrible receivers. I don't know if SMU's the right fit for him. He could follow his former coach to Clemson but I'm also not sure he'd be able to compete for starting time at that level.

I would like to see him go to an offense where he can sling the ball 50 times. If I was him I would be looking at Hawaii.
