For the first time since I began watching CU football...

... I spent an entire gameday without watching any of the game on tv, or listening to any of it on the radio. I have been driven to extreme apathy. On one hand, I'm ashamed as a Buff fan, and on the the other, I'm disgusted that the state of our program has driven me to these lengths of giving up one of my favorite past times

With only 417 posts in 6 years..... You seemed to have stopped doing that....... And then you came back.....

It could be worse. I think FSU fans are suffering more than Buff fans are right now. Bowden lost his effectiveness at least two years before he finally retired and the team declined. Fisher took over a program loaded with superstar caliber talent and well into a second season with "Jimbo" at the helm they are floundering. He's not what the program needs and how long will it take FSU to make an adjustment in coaching? Until then a very prestigious program suffers.

The situation was similar here with Hawk last year - everybody knew he had to be canned but how long would it take to get it done, talk about a hopeless feeling. Even with the losses this season I feel better than last. Gutting out one or two rotten seasons as part of the post Hawkins recovery period - not much fun. But at least the change has been made.

I listened on the radio for about 5 minutes....turned that crap off after the blocked FG for a TD....Same old Buffs and while I love and support this team/university as much as I can, not going to continue to let it ruin my weekends so I certainly enjoyed a Saturday with 0 football and 0 bulging veins out of my neck!

Will tell ya.....the outcome certainly hurts much much less than last week

I gotta call bull**** on that. At least FSU still has talent. All they need is a good coach and they can turn it around very quickly.

Pardon me for pointing out the obvious, but are you really posting on a CU football forum to comment on a game that you refused to watch, and a team for which your feelings are 'apathetic'? What were you expecting, anyway? We played the #7 team in the country with the consensus best draft pick in a decade, in their stadium.

There are no quick fixes here. The schedule is what it is. The program (players, coaches, recruits) needs support through the ****** times; not a self-loathing cryfest by 'fans' who can't even bring themselves to watch the games. Vent to your wife or whoever else will listen, because the people here are (mostly) not apathetic about CU football.

Why don't you come back in a few years when the Buffs are winning, claim what a diehard fan you are, and maybe folks will forget about today's pathetic post.

This.

We're stuck in the middle of eating the big **** sandwich D2 & his hawkruiting (who came up with that phrase BTW, rep!) left for us. We're further behind after they decided to retain D2 for 2010, this is the rebuilding that should have began last season.

Embree & Co need time to change the culture, and that's what this will take: time.

Gimme a break - I'll give you some hard times, Chuck Fairbanks (losing to Drake 2x), Mac's early years (1-10). etc. IMO there is no such thing as "turning off" the Buffs, they are a part of me no matter what is happening on the field. It's obvious you're a front runner, so go find a top ten team and start wearing their colors, we don't need you.

You sir, nailed it!

I had peewee football going on for the entire period the game was on TV. So I was in Stampede's shoes as far as not watching the game. While my Saturday ended much better with my twins' team posting a come from behind win, I STILL followed the game on my phone and still felt the pain - just somewhat muted because I didn't have to endure the visual pain.

Bottom Line: I now know this won't be quick fix and it's going to take time. Coach Mac is wise even further beyond his 70 years wish I'd let his words sink in more than they did when we hired Embree. Go home, GS come back and bandwagon again when Embree builds the porgam back up in 4 years. Until then, I've survived one rebuilding with McCartney and can do it again while at the same time let my sons see what patience and hard can achieve when given time.

See ya GS - enjoy your fall weekends.

agree.

2 of FSU's losses were on the road to what seems to be a pretty good Clemson team in a close one. WFU is respectable. their other loss was to OU and OU rallied late. we've lost to Cal and Wazzou at home.

We're all frustrated and this board is a bit on edge right now. I hope you keep watching and supporting the Buffs. We will get better.

It's a testament to being a great fan when you continue to support your team during the lean years.

FWIW things will be getting better after this year (and hopefully by the end of the year too)...

The difference is they had enormous expectations prior to the season. We knew we'd suck, so it's not as disappointing

Ironic. I bought season tickets for the first time because I DO believe in this program and this staff. I guess I'm an idot though.

Sometimes your arguments puzzle me.

how is this post any different than leftys a couple weeks ago?

It is not and I do not understand the big deal here. I do not feel a whole better today because I actually decided to watch that ass-whipping last night. I do not feel warm and tingly today because I am "sticking by the team" or anything. Losing sucks. If you are posting on this board after the Hawkins years, the last thing I am going to do is question fan hood. We are one of the worst BCS conference teams in college football so it should not come as a shock that people are pissed, fed up, tired of losing, etc.

It would be nice for this team and the coaching staff to give us something to latch on to, just something.

I can only speak for myself so here goes, no matter what I will always watch and support. Ive been around the game long enough to know this wasnt going to be an easy fix. Folks the talent just isnt there. I think this is the time when we should be the biggest fans, every little bit is gonna count for these guys. The fact that we have some ready to turn their backs make me wanna vomit. Of course it's whoevers choice to do so but I find it weak and pussified, that is mho.

The game was on at four a.m. for me. It was the first time in a decade that I didn't make any effort to watch a CU game, I think. I was thankful for the sleep.
