Give some props to lawdogg if he makes an appearance in this thread. He found the "heads up" on 247 sports that CU is expected to offer soon.

Fantastic prospect. I'm sure Kanavis sees a little of himself in this guy.

"Outside linebacker/defensive end Bryce Cottrell (Plano, Tx./West) continues to see his stock rise in the spring evaluation period. Baylor (Phil Bennett), Pittsburgh, Tulsa, Rice and Texas A&M were at the school on Wednesday to see the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder with TCU expected today. LSU was by the school earlier in the week and is taking a long look at Cottrell as a weak side defensive end. He currently has verbal offers from Baylor, Mississippi State and Syracuse with Colorado expected to offer shortly."

Arizona is involved here as well, so he is open to the Pac-12. If he stays at LB, I like the size. We are definitely going after bigger backers in this class.

Being recruited as a DE per Rivals.

"I don't know a lot about Colorado and need to learn more, but I'm definitely interested," Cottrell said. "I think they've got something developing there and I like their coaches. The Pac-12 is a great conference with teams like USC, Oregon and the others."He said he's planning an unofficial visit to Boulder this summer to see the campus and learn more about the Buffaloes.

"I want to go to a camp, but I have to check the schedules," he said. "I haven't made plans yet. This is all new to me to have an offer from Colorado."

If we can get to Cottrell up to Boulder this summer (as expected), I think we will be in good shape here. Scout shows a USC offer, but not sure where they stand now that the sanctions are being upheld. Think there is the potential for a really good DE class for 2012.

In terms of the teams at the top of his list of favorites, Cottrell listed a diverse group. "Oregon, Boston College and Baylor. Those are my favorite three so far."

With numerous offers in hand from top teams across the country, Cottrell made it clear that he is not limiting himself to any geographical region.

"Distance doesn't matter to me," said Cottrell. "If you're good you're good. If you're bad you're bad. If you win you win. It just doesn't matter to me where."

Really hope Kennedy can work his connections here in the DFW area. Cottrell has nice athleticism.

Doubt we have a shot here. Hasn't he pretty much said he's going to USC or Oregon if they offer?

Funny top 3 list if winning is his thing, though. Baylor and BC?

I'm not sure what our chances are here to be honest. But I think it is pretty clear that Cottrell is willing to look at schools outside of Texas.

USC will not be offering, they essentially told him that at their camp. Oregon can probably be considered the favorite, but the turmoil in that program is not going away. He showed interest in us when we first offered, I think it is reasonable to think we can get him to Boulder for an official visit.

I hope we get him, he's a good looking DE in the making. I just see him as the type that goes for bigger and better and Oregon fits that profile perfectly.

He's visiting Oregon and Arkansas in the next couple of weeks and then will decide between those two schools.
