Finishing Strong?

You have to squint pretty hard to see a win against Oregon or ASU, but the final 4 games are all winnable:

- SC @ home: banking on a blackout upset.
- Arizona @ home: Their only win is against Northern Arizona. They lost to Oregon State this past weekend.
- @ UCLA: Skippy on his way out the door and the Bruins will have opened up a big ol' can of quit by the time we play them.
- @ Utah: maybe they will be distracted, buying Christmas presents for all their wives...

Finishing with 4 straight wins would do wonders for our program (but it would also piss me off that we let 2 easy earlier wins off the hook).

This defense looks ****ier each week. The injuries continue to mount. I don't see any more wins this season and I'm usually a sunshine pumper.

Spaceman's a glass half full type of guy. I like that. Unfortunately, the Arizona game will probably be the only one that Vegas doesn't give us 10-17 points.

AZ is the only game where there is a glimmer of hope.

I had not watched Utah until this weekend. Pitt is no world beater, but UU went across country and beat a fundamentally sound Pitt team. Admittedly, Pitt has QB issues, but UU looked like a competent, competitive D 1 team. CU does not. Add in the game is on the road and fugetaboudit.

fUCLA is weak, but Skippy gets CU at home...and probably will actually find a way to expose the catastrophically weak CU D secondary.

SC will eat CU alive. Barkley is going to be a first or second round NFL pick, he has a decent OL and some good WR's. I'd be surprised if CU held them under 35.

If we were healthy, we might have a chance against USC. It's been a tale of 2 seasons for them. They demolished Cal last week, but barely beat Minnesota at home. Minnesota is probably worse than we are right now.

Yeah, I have seen SC, they have not been impressive, certainly not the type of impressive one expects from SC. But they have been winning. The only common opponent is Cal. Cal comes to Boulder, beats the Buffs in OT. SC goes to Cal, beats them by three TD's. CU can win the game, but it is an extreme longshot....

Saying our defense sucks is insulting to sucky defenses. We'll be lucky to win one game - Arizona.

A lot is going to depend on when PRich and Speedy get back. USC and Zona can both score in bunches when they are on. With the way our defense is playing, we likely have to win in shootouts.

Hopefully. If we win 2 of the 3 games at the end of the season I think it would exponentially help out our recruiting class, along with momentum going into next year

Arizona is a game we can win. Oregon State is far worse than we are and they beat them. UCLA remains to be seen but I'm still thinking our road monkey gets thrown in an airplane engine in the Rose Bowl. Utah, not sure. They haven't looked good but it's on the road.

Winning games will help, but what we really need to avoid is a disfunctional collapse. We need to be competitive, and as upbeat as a 1-12 or 2-11 team can be. We can't quit in games or start finger pointing in public.

Did you see that Utah beat Pitt (on the road) this past weekend? Losing their QB has been a big blow to them. But the Buffs are absolutely horrific on the road.

I don’t think that makes any difference at this point. Right now, you need JE and EB to work their magic, to recruit on sheer personality, charisma, enthusiasm, salesmanship, and will. They have to be a catalyst. They have to jump start something out of nothing.

I usually am more positive "glass half full" kind of fan - but in reality, the Buffs are that bad... injuries, players quit, and not knowing how to win, will keep them down... no more wins this year 1-12 - sorry.... that's the way I see it going down - hopefully I am wrong!!

I applaud the optimism, but any game we win from here on out would be an upset, and yes, I'm including AZ in that list. The fact is that between injuries, lack of talent, learning on the job coaches, and what has to be a major slip in confidence for the players, we're just a very bad team.

If we're gonna pull an upset or a few upsets, the last few games are the best chances. I'll optimistically say we get 1 more win, but I'd love to see at least 2 more wins and see us break this stupid effing road losing streak.

Sadly I think we have a legit chance against zona and UCLA but I think even in Boulder with a blackout USC will beat us easily..... they have more talent at every position than we do.... I just dont see Jason Espinoza holding up to Barkley. And Utah away=probably not likely...... If Embo salvages a 3 win season outta this mess I think that is an accomplishment at this point to be honest.

This^^^ Plus, if we could have found a way to win at home against Washington state, I might have a little better feeling about the Arizona game.

Conference games against USC and two superior opponents on the road are winnable? In what sense is the word "winnable" being used here?

USC, for all of their issues right now, are in another league than us, talent-wise, and I will believe in this team on the road against quality teams when they win a few.

IN the same fashion that CSewe is a University, or that dog **** is edible...

In the sense that we could win them.

finishing strong? should be finish anything? I really hope the Buffs can do something to hang a hat on for next year! if not, it is going to be one long off season.... One play, one tackle, one run, etc... something needs to change this really bad slide!

Sure love it if you were right Spiffy. Among other things I'd hate for the Buffs to be the game that saved Skippy's job.

UCLA plays AT Arizona on Thursday - that should be a win.

UCLA then hosts Cal, and Arizona State before going TO Utah.

They could very well win all four of those games. (They could probably go 1-3, also)

How many wins does Neuheisel need to keep his job? 7?

I bet Zona rallies around interim coach and beats UCLA this weekend (similar to CU at the end of season last year against ISU and KSU).
