In chat there was a lot of discussion about UDub going for more points before the half.

They got the ball back with about 1:30 left and the score was 35-10. They were passing and that's when a lot of people were upset in chat. They ended up kicking a fg ending the first half 38-10.

Did it show sportsmanship or not to try and get another 7?

My take:

Sorry guys, this is college football and is the first half. You put teams away and take away all morale if you can. 35-10 is a drubbing, but some teams would think they would have a chance. 42-10 is a strong statement that you are simply outclassed. If we were the ones up 35-10, I bet most of us in chat would say to "put them away." Given that we can't put any team away though--I'm looking at you KU--we've become a pity party. That's up to the coaching staff. In the second half you lay off on teams you've put away, but I've always felt you show up strong and early and I didn't have a problem with it.

We just need to stop sucking.

I never have a problem with running up the score in conference games. Stop them if you do not want to get embarrassed.

A. Don't care what the score is, you NEVER call off the dogs in the first half.

B. It's the D's job to stop them, the opposition has no obligation to take it easy, this isn't tee-ball, there is no mercy rule.

It was the first effing half. Not only that, but Sarc didn't have to put in Montana as early as he did. If anything, we should be thanking them for not scoring 60+.

They should have gone for a score, and then kicked the onside kick. Sweep the leg! It's the first half.

I don't blame them. They had an opportunity to lay the wood to a conference foe and CU was too weak or timid to stop them. You don't want your ass kicked week in and week out, then it is up to the team to do something about it.

We took most of our starters out in the 3rd quarter... Why is this even a topic? We could have easily put up 70 on you if we left everyone in. I also have never had a problem with "running up the score." If you don't like it, then get your defense to make a stop.

I'm guessing you didn't read the thread before you posted?

UW is the first school to show this much arrogance since we joined the Pac. I guess not every school can be as cool as Cal and WSU.

The funny thing is they are so cocky, yet they haven't done **** in ages

I know! If it wasn't for DD, I would have made them my new nebraska. Well, new Baylor maybe. At any rate, I'm saving my spite for USC.

Husky fans rememeber the Don James teams of the mid to late 80's the way the niblets remember the teams of the mid nineties, and they act similrly, execept the UW fans aren't inbred morons who think they are classy. And yes, I am bitter. Bitter like the designated driver at a bachelor party...

I guess winning the 2001 Rose Bowl was "ages" ago. But what do I know? A fan base of a team that has 0 BCS Bowl Wins and hasn't won a bowl game in 7 years clearly knows more about winning than us. By the way, if you keep losing you could join our 2008 team for the record of most losses in a season. Good luck with that.

You've made a very compelling argument here. Congrats to Washington for sucking less than us?

i honestly had no idea washington produced fans like this. i always pictured seattle natives to care more about their americano temperature than sporting events. this kid must be a hick from the woods.

I guess our winning the Big12 in 2001 and getting jobbed out of a NC shot and all those Big 12 North Titles count for something then

I'm beginning to wonder if the Oregon fans are as bad as all the UW fans claim

Look at the result of the poll, dumbass.

did what they had to do - if CU were to have scored on a return or fumble recovery at the start of the 2nd half, they would have still been in the game... Can not blame uw - score and score often

Congratulations...You have to be the dumbest poster to hit this area in a long time. That is a big accomplishment since we have come from the Big 12 and have dealt with Nebraska, Texas, KSU, Baylor and Aggie Fans. Not one Buff fan has complained about going for the score but yet you come on here and try to make something out of it that it is not. Once again showing that you are a retard at best. Many of the Washington fans I have met are great people and fans. Unfortunately you are not in that category. Go post on the WSU boards - they are missing you.

Got jobbed out of a NC shot? Didn't you get demolished in your bowl game by Oregon? You have no room to talk.

We have a lot of Coug and Duck fans posing as Husky fans... so, who knows if this guy is one of those.

Oh, and it's the offenses job to score points. That's it. Score points. If you can't score points, then take as much time as you possibly can off the clock in an attempt to prevent the other team from getting the ball. I hold no animosity to UW for trying to score points. I would hope we would do the same if the situations were reversed.

By failing to respond to the points made that you are an idiot who didn't even read the thread before responding, is it safe to assume that they are true and you are an ignorant near illiterate hick with an iq that only my dog could be proud of?

Hmm... He said a 3 loss team should have been in the National Title Game and you are rushing to his defense and using the internet "intelligence hierarchy" to try to insult me. 18,000 posts in 3 years... wow, get a life. I am also unaware that the Seattle Metro (3 Mil+ people) is a hick area. Boulder, Co though would be a perfect area for a hick to live.

This guy is just trolling to talk smack. And it is entirely possible he is a coog or fDuck fan, as it's common for them to impersonate our fans on opponents boards each game week. And don't let a few trash talkers represent our entire fan base, that is just asinine logic. You have a few ahole fans on here, but 99% of you are cool.

On topic though, I remember a quote I read from Steve Emtman where he said essentially "It's not our job to stop ourselves, if they don't want the score run up then they need to stop us". Or something very similar. His point was that neither team should ever give up, both teams should keep fighting to the final whistle.

+ 1.

As for "running it up" - as most have said here - it was the 1st half. I don't think it's possible run up a score in the 1st half. We replaced key starters in the 3rd quarter. Complete non-issue. Buffs called it right and this shouldn't even be a thread....
