Why does Mike Bohn continue to get a free pass...

When the Graduation Success rates were released CU continues to show little improvement. Link Over the past few years Bohn is constantly putting up BS about how things are getting better. I kept wonder outloud the past several years when Bohn says the GPA is improving that something is wrong since the APR goes down...I think Bohn is one of the all-time spin masters. He knows the fans have short memories and will forget his BS.

Just tired of the mess.

I'd rather be where we are right now, safe and secure in the pac-12 than the bigXII-XI-X-IX twisting in the wind and YES mike bohn is a big part of that i think hes done a good job, for ****s sake cut the man some slack...yeah football isnt where we want it to be right now...but lets see how embree turns out... if embree turns out as bad as hawkins then maybe its time but for ****s sake lighten the **** up

People give MB way too much credit for this imo. This was going to happen regardless.

yeah or it could have been missouri'd and wed still be stuck in the big12... i think you are overly dismissive of him because of your anger over football and specifically hawkins

I'm waiting for the football facility improvements that are going to happen with all the pac 12 money coming in from Bohn.

Jimmy is a good dood. He and I got into it back in the day, but I know he knows his stuff. So I can live with this "insult".
it wasnt an insult... it was alluding to the fact that whenever jimmy doesnt want to respond to something he just posts a  and expects it to make his point for him

Waiting for our little spat to be sentenced to the "Island". One request though, Don't move the whole thread there. Just axe the catfight.

Smart feller. I think he knows it's impossible to argue with you (and Creatini:smile2:). So why waste the time.

Where's the outage for the women's volleyball team? They also are winless in conference play. Winning a grand total of 3 out of 45 sets.

Well, I'll just put these facts up here...

BAD: hired Hawkins.
BAD: extended Hawkins.
MAKE OF IT WHAT YOU WILL: finally wanted to fire hawkins, got screwed by the uni's administration.
MEH: hired Bzdelik
LOOKIN' GOOD: hired Tad.
GOOD: was our AD when we went to the PAC-12.
MEH: got the football team a practice bubble.
GOOD: upgraded facilities for basketball(/volleyball)

So that's just the first few things that come off my head. All in all, an AD is remembered by what happens with the football and basketball team. Even the most passionate fans of football can admit that we have no idea how long we will suck for. the program has really fallen off the cliff.

Basketball seems to be on its way up. I mean, really, really, really on its way up.

So to sum up--I give bohn a 4/10, because he ****ed up our football team so badly, and i'm pretty sure i'm still mispronouncing his last name.

they were garbage last year... kritza got here last year... give her another year or so recruiting in the pac-12... the pac-12 is the king of volleyball

just a little side note...you would think the junta would make "hawkins" censored. do they have that ability?

I've said it before, but I am so disgusted, I am going to say it again. The admin. knew what they were getting when they hired Bon-Bon as the AD. He can glad hand, spin, make friends, get donors, balance a budget etc. That's great. But winning takes a back seat to the previous skills...that, and running a program that is perceived as "clean". I think this is just what the admin. wants, a guy who will play the politics, run around saying "Go Buffs" but will not take any risks, especially if those risks harm the "image". Winning is entirely secondary.

Look at everywhere MB has been. Never a winner, SDSU, Idaho. Look at SDSU now, competitive and getting some national respect as a decent program. Idaho, honestly, I don't know and I don't care, although IIRC they have been to a bowl in the past few years. We now have six years of suck ass FB to show for MB's leadership. In my mind he get's no pass, but nothing will change until Dr. Phil and Brucey get on board.

As far as the P12 move, I give MB some credit, but that was on the board as far back as '94 and CU got into the P12 because Larry Scott wanted them for the most part.

Give him a couple more years.

Let's see how the Embree hire shakes out. Give Embree three years. Don't expect big things but do expect a more competitive product on the field by year three. However, two more complete garbage seasons on the football field probably spell doom for both Bohn and Embree.

Consistently ignoring your most important asset is a failure by Bohn, but more importantly by the administration at CU. They seem to have no understanding of what a good football program can do for the university.

I am hoping that Larry Scott and the PAC 12 are going to use all their influence to force our administration to act. Clearly they will not do it by themselves.

Not winning is bad enough. Not being even being remotely competitive is just inexcusable.

Lefty is essentially correct - Winning is not a priority for Mike Bohn. It never has been. He wants a clean department that turns a profit. He wants community buy-in. He wants butts in the seats, regardless of the performance of the team on the field. Much of this attitude stems from the fact that he has had a very limited budget. It will be interesting to see what he does with the boatloads of money that will be coming in starting next year. The Embree hire was a hire of convenience. Embree doesn't cost much, and he can get people excited. I really don't think Embree would have been hired had winning been the priority.

This is the part that bugs me the most. I agree, MB was putting the bite on everyone about supporting your team when it was crystal clear HaLk was a collossal failure. I love the Buffs, but I have a hard time shelling out 50, 60 bucks a seat to watch a losing effort. Not just a losing effort, but one where the team is getting blown out. If the AD and the admin. aren't serious about fielding a team that is worth a damn, why shoud I pay through the nose to watch a half-assed product? The real danger here is that the difference between the 22,000-25,000 season ticket holders and the average 44,000 attendance number is the casusal fan. The person who gets up to see 1, 2 or 3 games a year. That's me. I only get to that many games because I am busy with kid related activities, and getting to games usually requires juggling, or sometimes, rescheduling, those activities. Tell me, why should I do that, if the AD and the admin. really just want to have a team, and have no commitment to winning? Why shouldn't my commitment, and my spending, be in line with their attitude? Of course this is rhetorical as I am sure I will still attend games when I can, but Bon-Bon has used up any goodwill the casual fan might have with the crap that has been on the field for past six years, and the real danger is that people decide it makes more sense to go skiing, camping, watch HS sports etc. than to drop 60 bucks a seat to watch the Buffs get mudpuddled week after week.

As far as Embo goes, I am on record saying I wanted someone else...but that wasn't going to happen, he couldn't even be the Homecoming Grand Marshall because the GLBT tolerate us crowd, couldn't tolerate him. Mac aside, I don't know who would have been a better viable candidate for HC. MB, Dr. Phil, Brucey and D II had completely removed CU from the national FB landscape and IMO, most of the qualified candidates would have seen CU as a joke with no admin. support. Why would they have come?

I think Embo can get the job done. But we are YEARS from being competitive again. If Embo and EB can get on the recruiting trail and bring in the talent, CU will return to the perennial top 25 team I believe they can be. It will be done in spite of the admin., though, who are content to be a participant in the P12.

I agree with this assessment. If the CU admin really wanted to win, we'd have an announcement about the new football facilities. Actually, we would have had it months ago.... crickets.
