Any theories on why he still has a job? One blurb I heard is that it is killing him that he can't tell his story because of the Grand Jury thing. Could he have been the one to break this thing? Is it possible , for instance, that he went to JoePa expecting him to take action. Followed up but kept getting a song and dance like, "we have notified the authorities and there is an ongoing investigation." Maybe, and this is just an hypothesis, he finally realized he was being lied to and contacted the authorities. Possibly through his lawyer.

Fire away. The truth will eventually be known, whatever it is.

All he had to do was have a pair of balls in the first place or called the cops soon after the shock wore off. He went home and slept on it for God's sake. Either way, he does either of the 2 options in the first sentence, problem solved. It has to be a legal reason as to why he has a job. I dont know any other way, maybe somebody does?

He was threatened, he won't be at the game, still has a job, not for much longer. Penn State should just clean house. The only shame is Jopa made a grave mistake that will tarnish his reputation. Not trying to make excuses, but still a shame.

Yep - just heard this on the Today Show.

As sad and sick as it is, you know the reason he didn't leave PSU before or during this is because he knows it would be career suicide. Now, his career as a college coach is probably over at this point anyway, but I am sure that all of his choices from that night in 2002 until now have been made with the idea that he didn't want to risk his future as a college coach.

I wasn't sure which PSU thread this should go into, but since this post is about McQueary, I figured this thread was appropriate enough..

I was talking about this yesterday to a coworker and we were wondering if McQueary would have reacted differently had it been a 10 year old girl instead of boy? We both came to the conclusion that he'd have done something if it was a little girl, but apparently a boy makes it "okay" to walk away and not stop it?

It's just boggling to me that he didn't do anything to stop it when he saw what he saw.

Heard speculation this morning that the DA is protecting his job at the moment. McQueary is one of in not the key witness in any ongoing prosecution of this case. It is to the benefit of the DA to keep him gainfully employed rather than risk him losing his job, lawyering up, and going into fifth amendment mode.

The school may have been told, "Make things easier on yourselves, keep him on the job or we will really go after you, even harder than we are now." Firing him may invoke some whistleblower protections removing some of the organizational immunity the university has as a state institution.

I am thouroughly convinced that what we have seen so far is only the tip of the iceberg, viewed from afar. The DA may be looking at bigger targets and McQueary is a part of his strategy to get there.

Didn't someone in one of these myriad PSU threads mention that if they fire McQueary right now, it'll cause whistleblower problems, but if they wait until after the season, he can go with the rest of the staff for performance reasons?

Of course, if PSU keeps winning, that won't fly, but does anyone really think they're going to win any of their last 3 games.

I dont think they are gonna have a choice but to put him on paid leave. It's pretty clear that the Jopa faithful are using him as the scapegoat. I think he committed career suicide by not speaking up, how could you keep this within you for 9 years? If he was proactive in the beginning, I think he could have persued coaching. Not every damn university out there has a cult figure and following, somebody would have given him a shot considering the circumstances. Would somebody hire him now when he was willing to play yes man with something this terrible over a job? Maybe thats not what he did, I just get that impression. I guess it's possible but I think he would find it would be more trouble than its worth. Imagine the explaining he would have to do when he went recruiting. Sucks that he had to be there at that moment but thats life. Imho, he screwed himself by not speaking up and thats exactly why he kept quiet at the same time.

Unfortunately this is only getting started, not going away anytime soon. Instead of bitching dont click the topic, really that simple.

Nah, I'd rather just bitch.

Seriously though, no big deal, I just think it's funny how there are like 10 open Penn St. threads all talking about the same thing.

What is tomorrow's topic going to be? I'd like to draw this out for as long as possible. I don't think it's getting enough play nationally.
OK, rather than get pissed, I was curious as to why the guy hadn't been fired. I couldn't decide where to post the question. If I'd put it in another thread it would have been buried. Whether you like it or not this is a huge story and often huge stories generate several threads. If the admin thinks they are out of control, the meld all threads into one which, pretty much, makes them unfollowable.

Oh, and forget the "rather than get pissed" comment. STFU! If you don't like the cucking thread, don't open it!

I hear what you are saying and im sure the mods will merge them if they feel inclined to do so. Sorry didnt realize we were gonna say the same thing.

If I saw a 10 year old child getting raped in a shower, I would not be able to live with myself if I didn't help that kid right away. McQueary has to go.
