Anyone else concerned about the RB position after Stewart graduates? This season has been pretty eye-opening for me because we look like a completely different team when Stewart is playing and he is healthy.

I do not see anyone on the current roster or currently committed that can carry the load in 2012. The overall speed at the position concerns me as well. I know this is going to take some time to get all the pieces in place, but I expected a bit more out of Bieniemy's recruiting.

So NSD is in November?

Saying that, I'm more concerned how Creer comes back after his injury.

Pledge Allegiance to the Swag

Creer looked good when healthy. I thought Ford was a decent replacement for Speedy in the Arizona game. He did score that TD run untouched.

No question the offense is much more dynamic with Speedy in there, particularly with what he brings in the passing game. Both Jones and Ford have shown flashes of good hard running, but nothing consistent. Obviously Creer got injured before he could fully showcase his abilities. Add in the question of who will be the FB for next year, and the jury is definitely out with the RB corps.

Jones has looked slow and weak with limited vision this year. Ford has flashed some good stuff in spots. I like his vision. Neither can move a pile. Creer could move a pile, but speed was an issue. Plus, CU players have not been the same after knee injuries for years now. I am really worried about RB next year.

Depending on a true frosh to play is NOT where you want to be, even at RB. Having a true frosh back there can really limit your passing game, protection calls, etc. Not to mention it is no sure thing we will get someone who can handle the full load.

Next year will be a running back by committee, which sucks.

Not sure what to make of Jones, but he seems to have regressed as the season has gone along. I know he had a TD in the Arizona game, but he looked pretty lost running the ball. The Creer injury just sucks. I really thought we had finally found a short-yardage back who could move the pile. Ford seems like a player who would be good for 6-8 touches a game.

Like Snow says, we are likely looking at a true RB by committee situation. Not ideal.

Don't agree about Jones.

His problem has been that he is very inconsistent, some games excellent, others invisible. That said when he is on he is not as shifty as Speedy but is better at running through tackles and has better top end speed.

He needs to develop that consistency, he also needs to get better in the passing game (has good hands but doesn't run patterns near as well and doesn't pick up the blitz near as well.) These things can be worked on in practice.

Ford looks at least adequete as a back-up. We didn't see enough of Creer to really tell but he looks like a guy who can be a banger for us.

That all said, it is a position that could use a major step up in talent. Even Speedy, as much as we all respect him, is not an elite back. He is quicker than fast so gets caught from behind. He also tends to go down easy with contact.

Of course any back will look better if we get push out of the O-line which we haven't consistently had most of the year. Speedy did a lot against Arizona but he also had the best blocking he had all year in that game.

i'm not worried - it's all sunshine and unicorns with me. A freshman will carry the load

Much more worried about the offensive line than anything.....Speedy works in our current offense because we've had an O-line which doesn't really ever create true running lanes, but he makes it work because he is so shifty/quick/experienced

Give me an O-line that can actually create some holes, and the other guys would look much more consistent

Jones got a stern talking before Ford came in at the Arizona game. Not sure why, but I didn't see him on the field after that.

I forget now, but I do believe he screwed something up regarding how he ran the ball.

Can I turn this around? What positions are you confident about going into next year? Honestly, I don't think there's anyplace where I'm not at least a bit concerned.

WR looks good, albeit young. LB should be good. CB could be good if healthy, especially with a more mature Hendo. QB could be very good if what Rip is saying carries over to games. If Harris can come back healthy on the OL the only question mark will be Miller's replacement.

I'm mostly concerned with DL, S, and who can replace Miller on the OL.

I feel pretty good about QB and OL. I actually think that our OL could be better next season if healthy (big if though). Beyond that, I feel good about P and K.

Pretty much every other position will be very young/inexperienced.

Ford looked flat-out confused when he broke through the line for that TD run. Then again given the way we block can you blame him?

LB assuming Rippy comes back should be much better next year. Major has improved as the season has gone on and he's gained more confidence in that knee. Webb's shown flashes so have some others. Secondary can only get better.

really? Are you that high on Wood, Hirschmann and Dillon?

I feel good about P, K, and LB. I think our LB corp has a chance to shine next season. All other positions are concerns for me either due to lack of quality or lack of depth.

As for RB, I think Jones is good. He may be small and not amazing right now, but he showed some skill this year. The main question will be our OLine and their health. Yes, RB is still a concern...but I think Jones will win the job outright next season.

Wow. I'm just shocked that based on what we have seen this season you are thinking that. Then again, I'm still surprised that Jones is ahead of Ford on the depth chart.

I'm higher on T Jones than most of you. I think he's solid. Seems faster than Speedy and almost as quick. The key will be improved O-line play. The line looked a lot better against Arizona, but it remains to be seen if that was just a case of Arizona's D not being very good.

Major looked like a different guy this year coming off the knee injury, just didn't seem to have the quickness and mobility that we saw prior to the injury. He looked like he was hesitant to cut hard off of it, also didn't have the same kind of consistent explosion that he had before. He has started to come around some later in the season but still doesn't look like the same guy.

I'm hoping that with a healthy off-season he can spend some time really rehabing it, get some of that quickness back and also get his confidence back in it. If so he should be a much better player for us than he has been this year. I can't criticize him this year because he has been out there busting his tail all season with a constantly changing supporting cast around him but I look forward to better things from him in the future.

Ya LB, CB, and S should all be better next year. That doesn't mean they will be good, but they'll be improved. RB, FB, and TE will be worse. QB, WR, and OL are TBD. Too many ?'s there imo

DL,LB and DB will be young and inexperienced?

The DL depth will be very young and inexperienced. We are taking a lot of DL in this class and several should see the field as true freshmen. LB should be better/experienced and I agree with others that we should be good there. As for the secondary, we will have some experience at safety, but CB is definitely going to be young/inexperienced.

I see serviceable backs that will run hard. What I don't see is anyone who will make our OL look better than it is.
