Ralphie Report: Buffaloes OL Savion Washington plans to enter transfer portal

Another previous starter is moving on.

According to a new report, Colorado offensive lineman Savion Washington is one of three CU players that plan on entering the transfer portal this spring. The report comes from On3 Sports’ recruiting reporter Hayes Fawcett.

Washington was the Buffs’ starting right tackle for most of last season, starting nine of the 10 games he appeared in. Before that he was at Kent State, where he started his college career playing for former Buffs’ offensive coordinator Sean Lewis – though he didn’t play much until 2022.

Now that Lewis is the head coach at San Diego State, it’s not surprising to see Washington head elsewhere. The Buffs had one of the worst offensive lines in the country last season: their 56 sacks allowed were the most by any team in the Pac-12, and 14 more than the second-worst (UCLA). The offseason plan was made pretty clear when, after a two-score loss to the Bruins last October, Coach Prime said that they needed to “go get new linemen.”

Aside from incoming recruit Jordan Seaton, most of that change has come in the transfer portal – of the 25 transfer that they currently have coming to Boulder next season, five of them are offensive linemen.

Ralphie Report: Colorado DB Jaden Milliner-Jones plans to enter the transfer portal

NCAA Football: Colorado at Arizona State

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

A promising young DB needs to find a new home.

Colorado is set to lose one of the key members from their 2023 secondary.

Jaden Milliner-Jones, a sophomore safety for the Buffs, will reportedly enter the transfer portal, according to Hayes Fawcett, a national recruiting reporter for On3Sports.

BREAKING: Colorado DB Jaden Milliner-Jones plans to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells @on3sports

The 5’11 195 DB played in all 12 games as a True Freshman in 2023

Recorded 25 Tackles and 3 PBUs

Will have 3 years of eligibility remaining https://t.co/itO8vvLfZa pic.twitter.com/lsZJL1iGZ7

— Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) April 15, 2024

In his only season with the Buffs, Milliner-Jones played in 12 games. He started one of those – the penultimate game of their season against Washington State – and made eight tackles. Overall, he had 25 total tackles, 19 of which where solo, and three pass breakups.

Originally from Texas, Milliner-Jones came to Boulder as a three-star recruit out of DeSoto High. ESPN ranked him as the 102nd-best safety in his class, while On3 had him ranked a bit lower, at 133.

The news isn’t entirely surprising, as the Buffs head into the season with a number of high profile recruits in the secondary. Travis Hunter and Cormani McClain are the most notable names in the group, though Oklahoma State transfer DJ McKinney and Shiloh Sanders figure to have big roles as well.

While entering the transfer portal almost always means that a player is headed elsewhere, simply putting your name into the portal is not binding, and players are allowed to return if that’s what they choose. With that being said, once a player enters the portal, the school is no longer required to honor any scholarship agreement they originally had. So unless Milliner-Jones ends up somewhere in the Big 12, that’s probably the last that Buffs fans have seen of him.

Ralphie Report: Colorado’s Aaronette Vonleh enters transfer portal

NCAA Womens Basketball: Oregon at Colorado

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

CU’s scoring leader is heading somewhere else.

Colorado’s women's basketball team is going to look a lot different next year. The Buffaloes’ star center Aaronette Vonleh has entered the transfer portal, as reported by BuffZone’s Brian Howell on Monday.

Colorado WBB center Aaronette Vonleh has entered the transfer portal. She led the #cubuffs in scoring this season and has been an integral part of consecutive Sweet 16 appearances. HUGE loss for CU. @goodmansport first to report and I've been able to confirm with a source.

— Brian Howell (@BrianHowell33) April 15, 2024

After transferring from Arizona in 2022, Vonleh played with the Buffs for two seasons and emerged as one of the nation’s best centers during that time. Vonleh averaged 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 2022-23, earning herself co-Pac-12 Most Improved Player honors and an all-conference honorable mention. Netty continued her tear in 2023-24, leading Colorado in scoring and receiving All-Pac-12 honors.

Losing a player like Vonleh is a tremendous loss for the Buffs. After the departure of players like Quay Miller and Jaylyn Sherrod due to graduation, Colorado was depending on Vonleh for some continuity in their lineup. Now, Frida Formann is the sole starter left from CU’s back-to-back Sweet Sixteen runs on the roster.

Coach JR Payne and the Buffs have no other choice but to hit the portal hard now. Colorado’s backup center, Brianna McLeod, has also entered the transfer portal. CU currently has no bigs on their roster, but that’ll probably change soon.

Aaronette was a huge factor for the success that the Buffaloes have sustained these last two years. Without her, CU likely wouldn’t have made such waves in the college basketball world. We wish Aaronette the best of luck wherever she ends up.
