Who is your choice for the next CU head coach?

I gather that Colorado fans still feel that the Head Coach is the problem, and that "the best coach out there" will cause the problem to go away. Good luck with that. But I hope that those in charge of things there feel differently, otherwise the PAC 12 is about to usher in a new doormat...

When did you know Hawkins was not the right guy for the job?

That's pretty close to what I've been thinking.. we've seen it at several schools, and the fans always want the coach's head, as if that's THE problem. The next bloke steps in and the program remains less than expectations. And I don't think the staff is the larger issue, either. New coaches...

When did you know Hawkins was not the right guy for the job?

There is in this thread, and many other threads here, a sort of consensus that Hawkins is the sole problem, with regard to the program's w/l record. Some schools have to dig a bit deeper to right things that have gone wrong over the years, coaching changes being the seeming most obvious to...

To our Bugeater posters....how do you neanderthals feel about the Big 11?

Nebraska's move to the Big Ten would be good for everybody concerned (the possibility of Notre Dame throwing a monkey wrench into the deal seems to be lurking in the background, though). Colorado should not be concerned with that what Nebraska does at all, however, in my opinion. Your program...

    I hate Nebraska

It was also interesting to see Lee's long-suffered injury mentioned after the game. That helps explain a lot of the poor showing we've seen from him beginning several games into the season.

    Poll of the day 8/17

1st year reunion. Hey, take things slowly in life. You only live once, blah-blah blah. Time for my Geritol/Metamucil cocktail. :smile2:

    Poll of the day 8/17

Holy (something or other), you guys are young. Looking at my HS senior photo I remember thinking Elvis sideburns and waterfall hair style would be (never said, "cool") bitchin forever.

    This cracks me up

NMBuff, I disagree with the "no hurry up offense." That last drive and score by you guys was awesome, to the point of causing our coach to froth at the defensive coordinator, his brother. You guys can do it. What I wonder is, maybe in that last drive your coach just stepped aside. I wonder...

    This cracks me up

With that in mind, what is your take on the Hawkins retention for his 5th year? Before yesterday's game it was addressed by the TV announcers as, "he was given five years to turn the program around and it's only been four years."

    This cracks me up

I was reminded of something, watching the NU @ CU game yesterday: CU has talent spread across its offense and defense; real, butt kicking football playing talent. When we look at teams with losing records in top colleges around the country, we usually do not see that. And that's when the...

Do you agree with CU's decision to bring back Talkins.

And I'll bet there were more than 5 CU fans who would have voted in a poll to keep Callahan at Nebraska. :smile2:

    I have a bad feeling....

I think that's what the timing of the announcement was about.

    I have a bad feeling....

    I heartily agree with that.

Do you agree with CU's decision to bring back Talkins.

It might not be a bad idea to take a look at what successful players are returning next year on O and D, as well as special teams. Those are the guys who got the most out of the coach's influence and who will deliver next year as experienced players under him.

Do you agree with CU's decision to bring back Talkins.

You may not have noticed the "..right now.." in my post. "It appears he's the best Colorado can have right now..." Incidentally, my main "fan card" is red. But I do have a gold fan card around here somewhere as well. :wink2:

Do you agree with CU's decision to bring back Talkins.

They addressed it and talked about it today, and they have all the financial and other facts at their fingertips. Truth be told, the decision to keep him being announced today helps the team deal with their last game this season. But the actual decision to keep him through (at least) next...

Now Official: Hawkins is back for 2010

DiStefano said what needed to be publicly said given, "the university just can't afford to buy him out at this point," would have been a nail in the coffin for the Nebraska game and would also have been downright disrespectful to the coach to an absurd degree. As it is, the players can now feel...

    The all-in-one Hawkins thread

It isn't just the buy-out funds that make if difficult to replace Dan Hawkins at this point (if that's being considered at all), it's that he's got things going well, and the losses can't be pinned on him alone. If those injuries to key players had not happened, at least 4 of those losses would...

    Nebraska @ Colorado prediction thread

I'd rather we played Oklahoma every year at this time, but it's Colorado, so: Always an interesting game and often with unpredicted results. I hope both teams play at their best, if they do the final score will be about Nebraska 35, Colorado 21.
