  1. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Guess this is the problem with a board that only has 15-20 regular posters and participates in group tailgates before games. Cronyism reigns supreme. God-forbid you stray from the company line or challenge "made men" with high post counts. You will be drawn and quartered. And anyone who MAY...
  2. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Yeah, no ****. Lots of intolerance and asshole-ishness too.
  3. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

So since I'm standing alone, I should just lay down and participate in the group-think? That would be far worse, my friend. About Mizzou, rattling off 9-10 wins seasons would be a step in the right direction for us, would it not?
  4. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

That's a bit extreme. Look at all the 1st round picks that come from spread programs. You think those guys aren't tough? Illinois runs the read-option. They've led the Big Ten in rushing since '05, more than even the vaunted *gasp* Wisconsin stampede. This offense has also produced NFL...
  5. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Maybe I should clarify some things. The spread has multiple variants. Some are pass-happy with 5-WR sets (Patriots, Purdue under Brees/Orton, Texas Tech). Others are set up to run via the zone-read option (West Virginia, Michigan, Oregon). Some use a combo of both. Given our personnel, I would...
  6. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Psst... In your link there, click on the words "spread option" and tell me what you find.
  7. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spread_offense "Defenses are left with the challenge of defending more of the field than ever before, while the offense was given the advantage of having numerous running and passing lanes created by the defense being so spread out." Take particular...
  8. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

You are one stubborn dude. Your wife must hate your guts.
  9. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Ok fine, lets remove Stanford from the debate, even though they've had the Heisman runner-up the past two years.
  10. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

How do you think Boise beat Oklahoma, Utah beat Alabama, Appalachian State beat Michigan? If these underdogs employed a pro-style offense, they all would have been worked. The spread uses schemes and deception to make up for size/talent/speed disadvantages. To effectively run the pro-style...
  11. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Nice circular logic. Who cares about the % breakdown of a school's pro players... that may just mean that their defenders were worse than than offensive guys. Those are mostly O-linemen anyways. Go find me a Badger RB (or any skill player for that matter... Lee Evans?) that has done anything...
  12. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

    1. Speedy took a huge number of handoffs this year, most from a traditional set. Rarely any counters or options. Hawk definitely did not run a spread variation. 2. Four of the last five BCS champs ran the spread. Five of the last six if you count this year's eventual winner. 3. If defenses can...
  13. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Since NFL defenders are bigger and faster, QB's wouldn't survive in the spread on the pro level. Further, the talent is distributed evenly throughout the League. This is not true on the college level.
  14. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Wisconsin and MSU don't put many offensive players in the NFL.
  15. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Yep. The new-age spread took the option offense and added some more passing, namely short stuff. You know, like bubble screens. Why does Embo think this offense is beneath him? 1.) Hawk's offense (whatever it was that he ran) was more pro-style than spread... and it failed miserably. 2.)...
  16. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

If so many of us are traditionalists, why is the pro-style offense more popular on this board than the option/spread? Some of you call the pro-style "smashmouth" football, yet what would you call the running styles of Bieniemy and Salaam, who played in an option system?
  17. Embree on the QB situation, position changes etc.

Some of his comments are backwards. Berglund would be a fantastic spread QB. Since he decommited, all of the sudden his style doesn't fit us? Further, why is Embo dissing the running QB / spread-option offense? After all, that's what CU was known for during our glory days. Maybe he's still...
  18. '11 CO QB Brock Berglund (Signed to Kansas)

I meant 5-stars. We landed Scott, Katoa and Kasa. You are wrong. The cupboard is bare. Among our skill players, Richardson (and Clemons, but he transferred in) was the only highly regarded recruit. Our backfield is especially woeful. We relied on the uber-development of an undersized...
  19. Embree says no more all white uniforms for CU

The worst thing with WAC uniforms are the shadowed numbers. Seriously, do any AQ teams have this? Its almost as if Nike said, "okay, you are a non-AQ school, so you must sport amateurish shadowed numbers to remind everyone that you guys don't play big-boy football."
