  1. CFP-With Right HC and 8 teams, this is not unrealistic

I´d like to bump this for 2 reasons. 1-there is a lot of smoke for the 8 team playoff. (example: http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25541265/notre-dame-brian-kelly-sees-appetite-expand-college-football-playoff-favors-8-teams) 2-when I started this thread we didn't know who the HC...
  2. Tosh Lupoi - DC Alabama

He has been mentored by Saban for 4 years and Saban has steadily given him more responsibility. He only has 1 year of experience as a DC but again he it seems Saban dedicated a lot of time to get him ready for it too. And the results were good. And his recruiting chops are indisputable. I...
  3. CFP-With Right HC and 8 teams, this is not unrealistic

Didn't you miss having another optimist here on AB the past few years I have been absent? I think I am a reasoned, logical optimist although you never know. As Slider says, however, it is not that much of a stretch. As recently as 2 years ago, in week 13 the Buffs were ranked 8th in the CFP...
  4. Which assistants should CU consider keeping? Your rating.

I saw a tweet from Adam today that one of our commits (I think a DB) said he is sticking with CU if Katie stays. That was surprising but shows her worth even in recruiting.
  5. Which assistants should CU consider keeping? Your rating.

I would say you are taking my responses "out of context". I evaluated each coach on their own merits not the whole staff as a collective. I would assume a new HC would likely take a max of 2 of them and I'm fine if they take none, I certainly would be offended, disgusted and disgruntled if they...
  6. Which assistants should CU consider keeping? Your rating.

Kurt Roper (QB/ Interim HC) = 2 (would have said 3 a few weeks ago but not sure who is to blame for a bit of regression from Sefo) Darrin Chiaverini (Co-OC/ RC/ WR) = 2 (ditto above but the whole offense) Klayton Adams (Co-OC/ OL) = --------------3 (if that's not clear that is a ultimate...
  7. CFP-With Right HC and 8 teams, this is not unrealistic

Agreed. I was personally having a hard time believing it was realistic for us to get an HC who could get us to the CFP anytime soon and then I thought about the move to 8 teams and it became much more realistic to me. Again, I wouldn't expect it every year but it seems like RG is not selling...
  8. CFP-With Right HC and 8 teams, this is not unrealistic

So a lot of people on AB have been debating how serious RG is about championships and how realistic that is even with a great HC. There is also a lot of chatter (or perhaps commitment to?) moving to an 8 team CFP. You guys know that before UW kicked our ass in the Pac 12 championship, just 2...
  9. Matt Campbell - Iowa State HC

I am surprised more ABers are not talking about this guy. CU could arguably be a good step up for him and he seems to fit a lot of the criteria we think RG is looking for (previous HC P5 conference, winner, energetic). Not sure about his recruiting background but as FlaBuff said he is recruiting...
  10. RG needs to move quickly.

It wouldn't be the first time a coach leaves his team before they compete in a bowl. Actually I believe that happened with HCMM when he left SJSU for CU as well.
  11. Official Coaching Search Thread

Of the names I've heard so far, I'm going with Lake and Holgorsen although I am not convinced the latter is accessible.
  12. Official Coaching Search Thread

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/colorado-coaching-candidates-matt-wells-brian-harsin-lead-list-of-candidates-for-the-buffaloes/ Matt Wells has (Utah State) Brian Harsin (BSU) JL EB Tedford
  13. '19 CO QB Ty Evans (Signed to NC State)

I believe Ty is the one guy we need to find a way to hold on to. For that reason alone I´d be OK with keeping Roper. I recall reading that us hiring Roper was kind of the deal closer for Ty committing to CU. I think he COULD be a once in a generation QB talent for CU. I could be wrong of course...
  14. Cal Pregame Thread---11/24 @5PM, PAC12N

Just to add to my comment, the reason I have started to suspect a leadership problem on the offense is if the team quit on HCMM it would be the whole team not just one unit. The D has improved their play in my opinion or at least held their own in most games (despite being stuck defending for...
  15. Cal Pregame Thread---11/24 @5PM, PAC12N

Actually I must admit I feel the defense has played pretty well in the last several games. It is the offense that missed the bus. And I actually blame Chev more than HCMM for that. I can't figure out what happened though. They have regressed even after Viska came back. I suspect it is not all...
  16. Mike MacIntyre officially fired effective immediately

I had the same thought. I think if I were Jay, I wouldn't play. Jay came out yesterday saying the whole thing was bull****. How can he play for a team that just fired his dad as coach? At the same time, it is the last time he will have a chance to play a competitive game so it must be hard for...
  17. Mike MacIntyre officially fired effective immediately

Pretty sure it does. A lot of these contracts are written that way as the assumption is if he has to take a coordinator or below role then his termination from CU impacted his career trajectory and his upside salary opportunity.
  18. Mike MacIntyre officially fired effective immediately

My initial reaction was the same, but then I thought about candidates like Holgorsen who emerged just a few minutes ago. In all of our 5,000 threads about this, I didn't see anyone propose Holgorsen: not because none of us would have been intrigued by him but because we would have never thought...
  19. Mike MacIntyre officially fired effective immediately

Just saw on Twitter that there is going to be a press conference at 12 pm local time. Not sure if it will be broadcast live anywhere, perhaps Pac 12 network?
