  1. CSU AD Fired?

Unless he just wants to move back to Colorado, I don't know why? Clearly a much worse job. I saw name loosely mentioned with Air Force (also has a connection there).
  2. Auburn game confirmed for ESPN - 11:00 PM tipoff

ESPN assigned us this game for one reason and one reason only, it fit best into their schedule. It's honor to be playing in this event. 5 years ago it would've been a pipe dream to be playing in such an event, against a relatively good opponent (playing Bruce Pearl's team is better than saying...
  3. Ticket drawing - Oregon State - Oct 4

Ha, good way to break the fast.
  4. Austin Dufault signs to play in France this season

Very happy for AD, one of my favorite Buffs.
  5. Cal AD Barbour is out

I thought you were making a joke there, that's why I responded with Betsy Hoffman. Shalala is definitely a presence on the athletic front though.
  6. Cal AD Barbour is out

    Where does Betsy Hoffman rank?
  7. Cal AD Barbour is out

There were articles at the time about how if a woman would've had a prominent position -- men occupied all the important positions (Spanier, Schultz, Curley, Paterno) -- this wouldn't have happened. I don't necessarily buy it. If Sandy Barbour were a man, would she have been hired? I think...
  8. Cal AD Barbour is out

Joyner was never going to be anything more than interim to begin with. I think Barbour stays 3-4 years and then they go out and find someone better. They tried to get the Northwestern AD. Wouldn't be surprised if other high profile ADs, didn't want to touch it since they are still reeling from...
  9. Cal AD Barbour is out

Don't think they're going to hire May Kay Letorneau(sp)
  10. Cal AD Barbour is out

Debbie Yow was widely hated at UMD -- she battled with Gary Williams and didn't exactly leave the AD in good shape financially -- but the Terps had the most successful era during her tenure. Yet, they won men's basketball championship (made another Final Four/in addition to another Final...
  11. Cal AD Barbour is out

Wonder how much of PR this is of having a woman? During the scandal, many feminists out there said that if a woman had been in a prominent position this wouldn't have happened. I imagine this is another short-term move to steer the ship.
  12. Jay Paterno on the current state of college coaching (very good read)

That's kind of my stance on JoePa's role in all of this, either way, he looks bad -- if he didn't know, he should've.
  13. Jay Paterno on the current state of college coaching (very good read)

The dark side of nepotism -- if Jay Paterno were Jay Smith, he'd be a lot better off right now.
  14. CUPD, Football Team To Square Off In Softball Game

  15. A noticable change

For basketball, when a MD kid especially Baltimore-based doesn't choose Maryland, it's a big deal. For football it's not as much, given the lack of stature in the program.
  16. Cal AD Barbour is out

What's his contract? Is it as easy to get out of as Embrees?
  17. MacIntyre And Staff To Present Football 101 For Women

I'm not missing anything. It's not mutually exclusive, they wanted both. The only other serious candidates happened to be Buffs as well.
  18. MacIntyre And Staff To Present Football 101 For Women

You keep talking out of both sides of your mouth here. You say it was lip service, but then you talk about how he was hired so the fanbase wouldn't revolt. If he wasn't a Buff, he wouldn't have been hired, end of discussion.
  19. MacIntyre And Staff To Present Football 101 For Women

And that's because he was a Buff. They wanted someone who would restore the traditions of the program since Hawkins in addition to not winning enough, didn't respect them enough for the fanbase (note: winning is all that really matters in the end). It was stupid not to cast a wider net. Bill...
