This guy's got a pretty big ego and a big mouth, he's probably gotten all the SEC teams lined up and ready to knock his ***** over and he hasn't even coached a game yet. How do you tell a kid that if he doesn't commit to your school that he'll be pumping gas for a living.

True enough. But that's the problem. I'm not sure thoroughly pissing off some of the most successful, tradition-bound, fan-crazy programs in the country is the best way to go about collecting "Ws."
Going 5-7 pisses them off way more than a few insults shot at other programs.

My ref to pissed off was Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Flordia and South Carolina (did I miss anyone?), not Vols fans.
Fans insult each others' teams; coaches - at least the smart, successful ones - don't.
He is starting to make Al Davis look like genius for firing him. How bad do you have to be to make that happen.
the whole "i've been in the NFL", you B team college guys aren't fit to lick my shoes thing hasn't always worked out. Greg Robinson, Bill Callahan come to mind as "Pete Carroll" type flavors of the month currently no longer on a college sideline.
And it's not like he tore up the NFL scene either.
