I couldn't believe it when I saw KSU at #10 when the rankings came out the other day.
Amazing start for their new coach. They had the #1 RPI ranking at one point, which got some pub, and the voters really had to honor that by voting them so high. I believe they'll fall, but they're no doubt a tournament team.
And the Big 12 (Men's and Women's) is absolutely flippin' stacked this year. I don't think it's ever been close to being this good.
at least on the Men's side, it would be hard to argue with one of those years in about 02-04 when KU made two final fours, UT a final four and elite eight, OSU same, OU same. pretty heavy hitting. heck, the second Morandais/Harrison team beat both KU and UT (FF teams) in Boulder and best we do was a 8/9/10 type seed in the NCAA--and get the worst tournament draw of all-time...a reg season underachieving Tom Izzo coached team.
but, KU and UT are looking like they'll be serious contenders....and it's a dogfight in the middle.
Baylor and TT have been surprising to me. I am not sure they can sustain success.
Updated to include games through the weekend.
I think I'll work on this one every Monday.

Standings have been updated with current records and Coach's Poll rankings.
Updated the standings and rankings. Decided to go with AP since the Coach's Poll wasn't available for the women yet.
Wednesday night will be key this week for both the CU men and women. The men will host Nebraska, which is winless in the Big 12 this season. The women travel to Kansas, a very winnable game against a last-place team that would bring the women back to .500 in conference play.
Standings updated following the weekend games and new polls.
Updated based on the new rankings that came out.
Good week for the CU men. Moved up to a tie for 8th place in the conference. Oklahoma, who we are tied with but own the tiebreaker, just lost at Texas.
For the women, not so good. They can move up to 10th by beating KSU this week (who is currently in 10th). Then, they finish at Iowa State, which looks like a loss and a losing season without a deep run into the Big 12 tourney.
Final Big 12 rankings and standings have been updated.
