"The first time we went up there we couldn't get everything in so I think this time we will get to look into more of the details of their program," said Thurston, who earned second-team all-league honors as a sophomore last fall. "I think they have a great program at CU. I like what they had to say about everything. I think there are some good things in store for them in the future."
Thurston had a great showing at the Buffaloes' Friday Night Lights Elite Camp and has received a verbal offer from CU with a promise that a written offer will be sent as soon as NCAA rules permit.

Thurston is a very important target for the Buffs in 2012. We'll be losing as many as 8 OLs to graduation.

Thurston has received a written offer from CU.
Thurston recently picked up his second offer from Stanford. I think he likely gets double-digit BCS offers before it is all over. Really like our chances here.
Buff lock. FACT.
I like four teams....deal with it
1. CU 3-10
2. Alabama 11-1
3. Michigan 11-2
4. ISU 6-7
I think we are in a really good spot with Thurston. Would not be surprised if he is an early commit.

Today's Rivals update backs this up.
"When I compare other schools to Colorado, Colorado has a little more edge over them just because I haven't been out to too many other places. I've been up there a couple times so I know CU and I've met with the coaches so that's a big advantage I'd say."
I'm always a bit weary of getting into a recruiting battle with Stanford.
It is a legit concern. But we really should win this one. Stanford has offered several OT prospects nationally, while our coaches only have to travel 30 minutes to talk to Thurston. If they get him up to Boulder a couple times this spring (and I see no reason this will not happen), I like our chances.
Also, unless I am mistaken, Stanford does not currently have an OL coach on the new staff yet.
