Hawkins: CU Buffs QB race 'paper thin`

Colorado football coaches listed junior Tyler Hansen atop the depth chart at quarterback 10 days ago when spring practices ended, but it sounds as if coach Dan Hawkins would have been just fine using co-starters instead.

Colorado football is not a matter of life and death; it's more important than that.

I will bet that Hawkins spews garbage like this just to piss off all of us internet scumbags. I am sure he really does not mean what he says....

awesome, how far up his ass is his head. That means cody is going to get pretty close to even reps with the 1st team offense.

This was my first impression when I read this. It seems sort of vindictive to me, like he is trying to piss people off.

One thing about Dan. He knows how to take an opportunity, set it on fire, and piss on the ashes like no coach I have ever seen. If he loses as many games as I think he will this year, he may want to send his family out of town to an undisclosed location judging by the comments on that article. The natives are restless.

I would not be a bit surprised if we see Cody at the helm. Dan just can't let it go. It is possible he's just lashing out, he isn't above that, but something tells me the longer he looks at tape, no matter what it reveals, the more he will be convinced Jr. should be playing. I still hold put hope he has enough sense not to do anything but give the job to Tyler. If he does that at least he will preserve a shred of diginity in this massive, and I do mean massive, cluster his coaching stint here has been. If Cody does start, and CU loses, it will be ugly. Real ugly.

I see no reason not to see the scenario you have repeated time and time again playing out. The coaches are going to tell themselves "you cannot buy the experience of a fifth year senior" and Cody becomes the option. Until he is not. Again.

Funny, I can almost hear those kind of "play Cody now" justifications already.....

Having two quarterbacks, neither of which is the starter... what could possibly go wrong?
