Morin transferred into Chaparral (Tyler Hansen's HS) after being put on the JV as a sophomore amidst controversy.
Here's the article on Morin's transfer:
Tommy Leach couldn't believe that then-sophomore quarterback Matt Morin wasn't starting when Leach's Pumas played Morin's Murrieta Valley team last October.
"We couldn't believe (Morin) wasn't playing for them," Leach said of the Nighthawks' quarterback situation. Senior Nathan Matlock started and played the entire game for Murrieta Valley, throwing 4 interceptions against Leach's defense, three of which were returned for touchdowns.
-and-
"Matt's a freaking phenom," Leach said. "We saw him as a freshman and a sophomore, and we thought he would even compete with our quarterback."

Looks like the main competition will be Notre Dame. Rivals suggests UCLA, too.
Is this a situation where the kid was offered under the previous coaching staff and is waiting to hear if the offer will be honored by the new staff?
Nope. We have continued to recruit him. The only 2 offers from B.J.E. (Before Jon Embree) that haven't been confirmed are still current are Adam Ah Ching (LB, South Carolina) and Ty Darlington (OL, Florida). I'd expect that we're still recruiting Ching since he's a Cabral target. No idea on Darlington, but I doubt we'd have a shot anyway.
Edit: We are still recruiting him, but it's mail without an offer being reaffirmed. New staff hasn't even had a chance to speak directly with Morin yet. Adam is taking the listed offer out of the Rivals database.
New interview this week (March 23) from Scout: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1058528.html
Morin confirmed that Colorado has offered (his only one). Notre Dame is his dream school and he's hearing from them. If they offer, it's over. USC and Washington are his next favorites if ND doesn't offer.

ESPN's Greg Biggins and the QB coach at the Nike Football Training Camp said that Morin was by far the top QB at the camp, outperforming Texas commit Connor Brewer. Gotta give credit to the Hawk on this one.

Morin had a dominant showing from beginning to end flashing the strongest arm in the camp with a lightning quick release and was on the mark all day long.I don't know the situation at Colorado to be honest," Morin said. "I hope they still recruit me because I'm interested.
He doesn't have an offer from us. I'd like to see us get after him though, he looks like a good player.

Committed to SDSU.
Nice pickup for them, surprised he didn't get more offers.
