Thornton was a starter as a freshman and sophomore for Ponderosa. The family had two homes, 1 of which was in Arizona. Not sure if it was due to the current economy or what, but the family needed to downsize, sold the Colorado home, and moved to Arizona. CU should still be in on this one and it's definitely a prospect to keep an eye on.
Here were Tom Lemming's notes on him after his sophomore season: Believe it or not Mr. Thornton is only going to be a sophomore this coming year but impressed everyone with his varsity play as a true freshman. On Film–Touchdown Tommy shows that he can make all the throws. He shows good footwork, velocity on his throws, makes good decisions, and can deliver under pressure. Only played in the second half of last season but dominated at times including 3 TDs and an 89 completion rate against Mountain Vista in an overtime comeback win. Stats–He threw 578 yds and 5 TDs as a freshman. Grades–His GPA is 3.6. Benches 215. Favorite Schools–ASU, NOTRE DAME, UCLA, OK, CO, and KS.
Here is the article on the situation surrounding Thornton's transfer and how he has handled it. Really sounds like the folks in Parker were pissed. http://www.tmbathletes.com/mb/index.php/news?start=5
Still no offers and completely under the radar. Film's not bad. Maybe we can luck into getting him as a walk on.
