I guarantee that some in the Denver media will put the blame for this squarely on CU's shoulders. If we hadn't abandoned our front range brothers (CSU, AFA and WYO) and all of our wonderful traditions we have together (???), then the MWC would still have Utah and BYU with Boise State coming in and a certain BCS bid.

Abandon? What difference would it make if we were still in the BigXII? CSU, WYO were non-conference games.
EDIT: I am specifically referring to the abandonment of "front range brothers" component, I get how Pac expansion is impacting the MWC.

Didn't the Big Ten get it started? Followed by Missouri's mouth? That's when Bohn went into overdrive about finding a solution for CU.
That's what I thought.
As the resident MWC defender and CSU fan I am here to take my lumps. Although I would caution against reveling in our "demise" too much. With the way realignment has played out so far, I think that all the universities along the front range have been hurt.
I have been on record as supporting CU's move to the PAC-10. I think it was the only move to make given how everything seemed to be shaking out. However, I also believe a consequence of that move was that CU's prestige took a major hit the day it turned in its rivalry with a Top 5 all-time football program in Nebraska for Utah. Additionally, a non-viable conference in the Mountain West region just further dilutes any natural rivalries in this area and consolidates the BCS power regions to the coastal areas, the south, and Texas. I don't think that is good for any "front range brothers" situated in this region...CU inlcuded.

First of all, HUGE props for coming here today. I really mean that. Not many in your shoes would man up like that, and I respect it.
Now to the bad part. I said the MWC was going nowhere and BCS AQ was a pipe dream before. One of the main reasons was the propensity of the good MWC teams to beat down the door to get out the first chance they had. UU is taking a partial share of Pac 10 revenue just to get out to a major conference. Now BYU is going bare. Not the hallmark of a near BCS AQ if you ask me. Even their own members are fleeing the ship. I'd be surprised if the MWC held on to Boise much longer.
As far as being bad for the front range schools, it is except for CU, who came out smelling like a rose (or is that Rose Bowl?). A step down to lose NU on the schedule? Hardly. The Pac 10 is a better fit, and taking a pass on the corncobs is no big deal when you can play UCLA, USC, Ore, UW, Cal and Stanford instead. CSU just had a stake driven through their heart, and that has to be hard on Rammies.
Certainly does not look good right now, however I think it is simply premature to proclaim CSU dead in any way shape or form yet. The MWC has extended invites to Nevada and Fresno State. If they accept CSU is in the same position it was before - affiliated with a non-AQ conference.
I'm sorry this crap is happening to you. You seem to love CSU as much as I love CU. Most Ram fans seem to like CSU and hate CU. I don't feel bad for those ****ers.
